I've been in the process of restoring a steering column in a 72 Skylark while converting from column to console shift. In my uninformed zeal I thought, "hey I don't need the tab at the bottom of steering column anymore since I'm converting to a console shifter" so I cut it off. Doah! I didn't think two steps ahead and didn't that the without the backdrive rod connected the gear selection indicator in the speedo will be dead. Unfortunately the trash man got to it before I could retrieve it, so before I fabricate and weld something in place, does anyone have an otherwise worthless inner sleeve for a column that they could scavenge the bracket from for me? Cost + shipping covered of course.

The same lever and linkage at the bottom of the column is used for column shift, floor shift, and standard shift.
Do you have a tilt or non-tilt. The arms are the same, but the sleeves are different. I have a non-tilt that I can spare.

Hi Brian, thanks for responding. I'm working with a non-tilt car. I really only need the lower 6" or so with the bracket, unless you want to retain rest of the tube, then the bracket itself would work. Let me know cost and payment methods you accept. Thanks!

That shifter lever is spot-welded on. I will just send you a whole tube.
