Is Electron still in business?

A semi-local installer told me Electron got bought out and closed down. The most recent info I find is two or more years old, and their phone numbers no longer work.

Their old web address cones up as EZ-On in SC…

Jason, sounds like they made the decision to shut down.

The property was probably worth a few million. Getting out of NYC was the best move they could make.

Anyone have any input on EZ-On’s quality?

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Although I never dealt with them, it looks like Electron was no bowl of cherries based on the number of complaints in recent years of poor quality and bad service.

Electron was bought out and moved south to another top company. They are a great top, that is what I used on my 72 convertible. EZ -on is not too bad a top, good for a budget top.

Electron’s old web address now shows to be EZ-on in South Carolina. Is EZ-on that company?

Well, I pulled the trigger. Installer had several ‘70s El Dorados in his shop (scissor top cars) and several A bodies. He used a Kee top, which has a two year free replacement warranty and is prorated out to eight. Here’s a few pictures. Any critiques? Any glaring issues? Anything to check?

I used a kee about six years ago, not a bad top for the money. The only thing that stands out to me is the rear top seem cover is a little short. I know some installers like to make it much shorter than original. Supposed to help not rip in that area. I think it would be safe with a few more inches on each side, mine are a little shorter that original.

9A82601F-6694-4F14-BD86-6D37AF9951E6.jpeg My installer said my previous top ripped partly because the strip (?) came too far down the sides and that they should be shorter. Mine are shorter than yours.

It is funny that some original tops can last 50 years. As I said above some installers say this, not sure if it is true or not. Maybe it is the type of material or the way it is installed.
My car in the picture below had it's original 50 year old top. You can see where the original strip lands..
