This is a very well restored 1971 GS455 with Saturn Yellow paint and GSX graphics, tach, and spoilers. Has A/C, power windows, Power driver seat, N25 exhaust and all the basic options. Appears to be an exceptionally well done restoration. I've spoken with the consignment dealer as well as the owner who is selling because of poor health. He has owned the car for 10 years and keeps it in immaculate condition. The motor is a '71-74 with a performance rebuild with upgraded cam and Stage 1 valves. The tranny is an original BA Turbo 400 with correct VIN stamping. Some of the "not correct details" are: Original color was Bittersweet Mist Some yellow painted areas that shouldn't be yellow Some engine detailing needing correction GSX logo on the bucket seats Here is the link to the consignment dealer in Illinois. There are 158 photos showing great detail on this GS. https://www.121carnow.com/details/used-1971-buick-gran-sport/100829922 Owner has reduced the asking price to $64,900 and says he is negotiable and is happy to talk personally with interested buyers although, for the next couple of months he feels obligated to pay the dealer a negotiable commission. Both the salesman and the seller are very cordial and willing to answer questions. I had an interested buyer here in Florida but he didn't like the Saturn Yellow paint on a '71 GS. The owner has just joined the forum and has posted below so, anyone interested can send him a PM to discuss the car further. I'm just trying to help a motivated owner of a very nice Buick and have no vested interest otherwise.
Did a Mopar shop paint it haha....ughhh that would cost a few grand to straighten out..I know they can't all be perfect...but why would one do that
With respect, Chris, it's not a clone. Paint and graphics are tributes to a 1970 "X" but, the car is a legit GS455.
It’s still for sale and the owner is screaming for an offer. As hard as ‘71s are to certify this one does have the numbers matching tranny and rear axle. If it was closer to me I’d surely look at it seriously.
The problem the farther you deviate from stock or easily undone mods is finding that one person that loves how the car was done & in this case doesn't mind forever answering the inevitable "is it real?" That person is probably out there but are they in the market? Of course the owner is trying to recoup their "investment" and is finding it difficult. Maybe (?) wouldn't be quite as difficult had the car been done in a '71 GSX color & had the underhood & trunk been done as OE. I kinda like the seats but I also like orig. and to put the car back to orig. is cost prohibitive so...
