Package Tray Problem

I had sent my wife the link from OPGI for a new package shelf with the cutouts for the speakers for my birthday. Well, it came in and I knew that some cutting would be needed so I proceeded to cut the ends a bit then slid it in. The middle was too rounded so I cut some off the back middle. Cut more to make it straight across like the window is but now the ends are too narrow to cover the shelf. Looking into it more, like I should have before, that part is not made for a Skylark. I called OPGI and Legendary and they all carry the oval shape and not the flat across shape. So am I missing something? What has been your experiences?

Sounds like they are selling ones for a Chevelle.

You need to get one specifically for a Buick, and I don’t think they are straight across at the rear window.

I don’t know what year car you have but the ones for the 70-72 Buicks are reproduced in both the Mesh “deluxe” or plain styles…and I did get one that fit my 69 car.

The mesh one would be what you need for the rear speaker equipped cars.

I took mine out, spray painted it and put it back in. Fits like original.:D

I made one out of hard board, a jigsaw, and some vinyl fabric I got at Wal Mart. Paid $20 for it. I thought the online package trays were too expensive and flimsy.

I called both OPGI and Legendary and they were just about clueless. When I say straight across there is a slight curve out but not rounded like I received. Will probably go homemade route.

None of the aftermarket package trays are cut right. You have to trim about an inch off the back edge, and it's not a straight line. You are supoposed to fold up the side edges, not cut them off.

Can't seem to upload pic but what came out is rectangular. What I ordered came in very rounded. Looking at Opgi it seems that their 1967 tray would be a better fit. I trimmed a bit off ends to fit under side panels.

It has been ten years ago, but I ended up getting mine from Year One and it fit with very minor trimming.

Mine came from year one also; I didn’t have to do any trimming. 1969 skylark, got the one with speaker cut outs with mesh over them. That was in 2016

I made a template with cardboard, exactly 1/2 the width and traced it over the GTO package tray I had from a past project car. Some minor trimming added some foam underneath and it looks pretty nice. My back window was out so it was easier to get it to fit right
