Manuals don't have a torque converter.

Edit: I missed a previous post that said the same thing.

Here's the only pic of my 67 GS convertible factory 3 speed manual I have...car is buried in back of my shop .I brought this off George " black widow fame" many moons ago.Cowl tag should have 2B for 3 speed manual no console and I think 2C for console cars.Tranny is a Ford unit. So we go from 9 to 90 cars?Seems like a lot.I have not ran across maybe 3 in 40 years I'm chasing these things. Not sure those #'s are correct.

There were 136 3 speed convertibles built in 1966. 90 for '67 sounds believable.
I drug this 66 GS (3 speed stick vert) home a few years ago. It needed a ton of metal work (floors, trunk, qtrs) but it's coming along nicely. It's never going to bring big money, I just like doing this kind of work. Besides, if I don't save it who will??

    Kudos to you!
I say the same thing, if you enjoy doing the work and like the brand (Buick) do it for the enjoyment and challenge knowing it’s not a bellybutton car;)

Maybe less clutch wear with shorter gears. I think the reason people were unhappy with 3 spd manual was probably every day city driving it would be hard to find a happy spot between 1 and 2 depending on traffic. Just a guess.

The metal tag that's riveted to the 3-speed tranny has a letter code stamped on it with a serial number. What's the letter code on the 67 gs400 3-speed? ie RAT E, HEB A etc.

Torque converter stall helps, particularly if switch pitch.
