Maybe you guys can give me a little insight. I'm finishing up the install on my new 455 in 70 gs. The old harness was a complete mess that looked homemade. I bought a new engine harness from Todd Miller. My question is, I have an hei distributor. What needs to be done to make this work? Is there any other changes I will have to do to the wiring? Thank you in advance for any help. Photos would be a huge help if you have any. Thank you!

Disconnect the pink wire and install a regular length of wire the same size. The wire has to be pulled at the firewall connector. The end isn’t just a regular spade. You may have to take the one off the resistor wire. One of the vendors (I don’t remember which) sells a replacement wire with the correct spade. It was around $20 a few years ago. Did you mentioned that you were using an HEI, they do come with the resistor wire already replaced.

I don't think I mentioned it had hei distributor because I didn't see it as an option when ordering the harness. This is the harness I ordered. Screenshot_20240426_095431_Chrome.jpg

So this is controversial but I will mention it. The HEI uses more current. Run a new 12 or 10 GA wire to it from a relay connected to a 10 GA source or the battery, especially if you are looking for max performance. Activate it from a switched source. If you get run on, there is a fix. If you need a stock look hide it. You don't need the resistor wire or yellow wire.
