Hello fellows, my name is Andy and I´m driving a ´74 Electra Limited. I imported the car in 2013 from a dealer in Florida to Germany and drove it until 2016. I always kept in touch with the new owner and he sold me the car back in April 2024. He only put 5.000 miles on it, now the odometer says 59.000 mls. It´s equppied with A/C, power windows, p. seats, p. door locks, radio with 8-track-player, electric trunk, etc. and everything works fine. I don´t know how rare such cars are in the U.S. in these times, but in Germany they are very uncommon and turn many heads. My dog "Starsky" also likes it ;-)

My father was in the U.S. Army, we spend a lot of time in Germany (2 tours). When I was very young. (1) Nurenburg (2) Muich (3) Garmisch Second tour: I was a teenager. (1.) Frankfurt As an adult, I worked for the U.S. Army and did a tour of duty in Frankfurt. We spent some time touring Europe with my parents and also as an adult. Unfortunately, I'm not good with picking up languages. I can speak some Germany but it's very limited. My grandfather is German, his family is from a place in Germany called Robinsburg. I believe that in in Hanover Germany. We have a great forum and all the guys here are great to help answer questions you may have. VET (Navy)
Could you check that again, there's no place with that name in Germany. Nothing in the Hannover area with a name that even looks like that. Could it be Rothenberg? Also the other names: Nurenberg = Nürnberg? Muich = München? Garmisch = Garmisch-Partenkirchen?
Andy, good to see a new member with a full-size Buick! Are you from Steinfurt? I used to attend the Dino Treffen in Ibbenbüren for years and years. And nowadays every now and then the factory outlet in Ochtrup.
Sorry about the mis-spelling. All I can tell you, my Uncle did a history on my Grandfather and his family were supposed to be from Robinsburg. My uncle even went to Germany to find other possible relatives. Maybe that town doeesn't exist anymore. I believe the history goes back to 1700. I've been to Rothenberg on vacation, so I know it's not that. When my Grandfather immigrated to the U.S. They settled in a costal town in NC, called New Hanover. It was mostly settled by Germans. This is all I know re my Grandfather. The Lutheran Church they when too, only spoke German. When WWII broke out, the church converted sermons in English. Vet
No, there never was a town with that name. That's why I asked you to check on that name. You've been to München and Nürnberg as well, so being there is no guarantee that you also know how to spell the names...
My uncle did write a book on my grandfather's family history. This was done about 50 years ago, so i'am going on memory. Unfortunately, I have no idea where my copy of his book is. I have moved overseas several times during that time spand. Sorry for the misspellings, unfortunately I have dyslexia, This learning disability causes me to have difficulty with spelling. Some times the spell check does pickup on all the words I input into a post or email. Vet (Navy)

I see now. Maybe one of your family members still has a copy of the book? I've spent some time checking out the area around Hannover, but no town with a name like Robinsburg, or something similar to that name showed up. So now I'm intrigued about the name of the town your grandfather was from. Could it be Ravensburg by any chance? But that's not really close to Hannover.
