What a great car. Loaded, great colors, & even has max trac. I don't see an A/C compressor & I think for that price, which is already a bit high maybe, the car needs to be complete & everything functional.

1972 Buick Riviera Gran Sport with factory Sunroof. Huge paper trail, window sticker, extra back windows, many many extra parts. This has been in two publications. Non negotiable price. One rare car and less than 3% of all manufactured cars in 1972 were a GS with a factory sunroof. This can be driven anytime, anywhere! The temperature stays steady at 180 degrees. I use high zinc motor oil. The transmission has a nice trans cooler, the limited slip 3,42 ratio rear is in outstanding shape. I service last year and added new fluid with limited slip rear additive. Brake are good, has beautiful ride, just changed all the shocks in the car. Huge amount of spare parts and some doubles, extra sunroof cables, rails electric motor. Side trim, extra wide rocker trim set, emblems, spare WA stamped 455 block and crank. Don’t waste time. Moving and relocating out of State. My loss is your gain. These are very very rare, the electric sunroof works and is fun to drive with the windows down and roof open. The light monitors and cornering lights all function. This is an official real deal Riviera GS with the W in the vin. You can fly In and drive this car home.

I agree 100%, gotta fix the ac to command that kind of money, especially with being kind of cocky with the ad... he could probably easily take a grand and have it working.

I'd sell mine for "that price" when I get finished detailing and adding factory Buick rally wheels. 50k miles and nearly all original and in EXCELLENT condition. :D

I wouldn't go a dime over $49k for yours my friend, lol. Deal?

The sunroof, that it's a loaded GS, & the docs are what makes the subject car very desirable, but to fetch that kind of $, it needs to be in the "nearly all original and in EXCELLENT condition" that yours is!

Nice car but should be a single snorkel air cleaner with chrome lid and no stage 1 sticker. Top dollar is in the 35k range but prices keep going up. These get big valve heads, special cam, stage fuel pump but no stage carb or distributor

Rear gear ratio was 3.42 in 71 and 72, changed to 3.23 in 73.

    From the ROA website:

    1971-1972 GS

The GS option in these two years were very similar in that an modified engine was part of the package, which offered an additional 10-15 hp over the standard engine. Once again the chromed air cleaner lid was included. Beginning with the '72 model the vin# included the letter "W" to indicate that the car was equipped with the optional Stage 1 engine. As in '70 there was no additional Stage 1 decals or emblems on the car. The GS option included the engine a well as the ride and handling package and posi rear axle with a 3.42 ratio. The fender emblems changed once again with a return to the Riviera script located behind the front wheels. The script had a new sleeker look for the first time. The red GS emblems, similar to the one used from 67-70, were positioned below the script rather than behind, as in previous years.

Beginning with the '73 model the Stage 1 emblem was first used to identify the optional engine package. The Stage 1 badge was attached to the grille, as shown in the photograph. AS in 1972 the letter "W" appears in the vin # to indicate that the car was equipped with the Stage 1 engine. Once again the only difference in the appearance of the engine was the addition of a chromed lid on the air cleaner, with out any decals. During these years the GS option was a ride and handling package only.

Now that the GS was replaced with the Stage 1 as the engine option, Buick changed the color of the GS emblems to gold rather than the traditional red. The Stage 1 package included the modified engine, chrome air cleaner and a posi rear with an axle ratio of 3.23. If the car were equipped with both options it would have both emblems. There were only a limited number of cars built with both option. (see production figures at the end of this article) Although radial tires had been available for several years they were first included in '73 as part of the GS package.

I sent the owner a text to compliment the car & wish him good luck on the sale unless he was just advertising it to tell wife “he tried”.
He didn’t deny it & said we “think alike” and sounded like he was still totally in love with the car lol.
“I tried to sell it Honey” appears to be the situation here if reading it right.
    Cool car:cool:

Odd, I can go to the ad on my phone & Facebook doesn't recognize this phone as me (I've never logged in from it) & there are times when Buick ads are linked to on here & I can't see them if they're w/in certain groups. Maybe Mark Z. doesn't like you?:).

Do you remember the silver one the kid in HS had? I believe it was a '73 Stage 1 w/sunroof. Was his Dad's car & absolutely beautiful.
