I just recently discovered that the 67 GS and Riviera had a hood strap to keep the hood insulation from making contact with the air cleaner. I was told about it at a cruise night a week ago and of course I immediately searched the boards looking for the piece. I found some threads from a few years ago and saw that a wise gentleman reproduced about 40 of them. I’m hoping someone has a spare or can point me in the right direction. I’m also unsure how it ultimately mounts in there. Any help is appreciated!
Mike, Copied below is the information I used to get a strap for my car. It just pops in to pre punched holes in the hood reinforcement. I can send you detailed pics once you have the part. Tom I still have some available if you guys need them. They are bare spring steel, not painted. You can contact me at my email address: rlsprague@hotmail.com Or you can send a private message through V8Buick a I will get an email notification that way. I am currently selling them for $25 + $5 S&H, or $30 total for customers in the continental USA. Thanks again for your interest in this item. Randy Sprague
This is how it looks installed. The holes are pre-punched in your hood and the strap ends just slip into the holes. Spring tension keeps it in place.
Hi Mike, I will take one of those straps as long as the original poster gets however many he needs first. I will shoot you a PM.
For some reason, I didn’t get an alert that anyone had responded to this thread. Thanks so much for the information, fellas! Skybird - do you still have an OEM strap? Mike
