Everything is fully assembled. We're getting ready for the first crank up soon enough.

Why are you running the PCV valve in the valve cover? Where is the breather? If the PCV sucks air out of the crankcase, fresh air has to enter somewhere. Your valve covers are reversed.

The breather sits at the rear of the engine, on the intake. I was aware that the valve cover were reversed, but my mechanic told me that it'd be easier to run the PCV tube that way.

Should we put the PCV in the rear and reverse the valve cover ?

The PCV valve belongs in the rear of the intake. The breather belongs in the valve cover. With the cover on the wrong side, the oil fill is at the rear of the engine. Not sure what this engine is going into, but putting oil in the engine will be easier if the oil fill is on the driver's side front of the valve cover, especially if you have the A/C box on the firewall. I would run it as stock if it was my engine.

I reread this thread today because a part of the opening post has been stuck in my mind since this thread was started. Like Ghrp I too like things that are out of the norm and not like what everyone else has. His bold color choice has made me really want to step out of the box for my engine colour choice. I am currently experimenting with a few things and when the engine is done I'll share some pics with everyone:).

For those wondering how the build is going...

TH400 is going under a mild rebuild, a new shift kit will be installed and a few other goodies. It has been painted the very same color as the engine. The new rear end is pretty much ready as well. It's a 8.5 out of a 77 Monte Carlo. It's been fitted with a true trac posi and 30 splines axles, 3.42 gears. It should be just fine even thought it's a tiny bit narrower than a stock 75 Electra diff. Should be able to put wider meat and keep the fender skirt (perhaps no lol)
