The reason there is only 3 choices is because those 3 things are the only way Ebay supports bid retractions. It is rarely allowed in any circumstances, but in the final 12 hours it is a no-no. Guess if he could have typed his own reason in for retracting, it would have been something like: "Bidder hit reserve and S$&T on his self". That is a chunk of change!! I love it. Now to send the link to all my Mopar buddies that think their Challengers are priceless.

it will propably be sold off ebay to save a TON of ending value fees. Nice to see the car do that well!!!!

I bet it wont be sold anywhere near that price. The whole thing sounds bogus to me. Why would an undesirable GS go for more than 100k over market value ? And I bet the 2nd high bidder bails on the deal as well..Im sure he never brought the Hemi cuda because as far as I know it never existed.

Sorry guys, I have to jumpo in here and say something.

What the HE** Are you talking about?

There are no final value fees on vehicles on eBay. the Fees are less than $100.

Why does it sound bogus and how did you come up with a Market value of less than $75k? Since it is probably the highest priced GS over listed on ebay and received quite a few bids, why is it"undesirable"?

Cars rarely sell to the "second bidder" for the amount they bid, as they usually bid that in the heat of the moment, and also because they realize they could probably get it cheaper, since there is only 1 person on all of ebay that outbid them (and they retracted). Probably just a matter of whether or not John wants to take less for the car.

Sounds like you are an expert on the Hemi Cuda he won and get good feedback from the seller on?????

    Just my $.02!

John, congrats on the bidding on your very nice, and very desirable, car!!!!!

Trucks455-Don't misunderstand me-I'm glad to see the exclusive GS's demanding the money of the SS,GTO counterparts. For a one off car like yours, it's worth exactly what the owner wants for it-the bidding proved that!

The quote wasnt mine just giving my opinion.

Thats the problem I doubt market value is even 75k. The most expensive GS sold I know about was maybe 60k?A convert in VOLO musuem I think..most collector GS's sell for 35-40k ,this is real reported sales .How many if any 75k GS sales have happened?Logic would say this is the next step in High price value NOT 175K. And im certain when it does it will not be a GS missing one of its gears. While being the only 3 speed may make it rare it is still undesirable.

I wont comment on what I think did happen . But if John doesnt take WAY less he will be selling it for a long and I mean long time.

"Sounds like you are an expert on the Hemi Cuda he won and get good feedback from the seller on?????"

Owning a few yes I know them well. The car never sold and in my opinion may have never existed. I tried to get a peek at the car and could not ..you figure a 150k seller would not give you a run around if it was a real deal.

    3-speed

I know I just want the readers to understand all I did was put a rare car on the market everything that happened after was out of my control. Believe me I know it's alot of dough after all there is nothing I can do to the high bidder he has had 3 bid retractions in his profile, I think maybe because of all the hype I was being played with, and that's one of the down sides of ebay. This was my 1st time ever listing a car, and maybe I should have listed something not as controvercial, meaning price vs a rare auto.Everyone seems to have quite an opinion on this one, I am sure it will be talked about for a while, one of the high 5 bidders is coming to see the car for himself and if it sells I'll let the web site know. See you at B.G., trucks455.

I feel for you John. I received a similiar reaction on this board when I posted my 69 stage 1 4 speed conv last year for sale. People I have never met verbally bashing me over the listing price of a car they haven't seen, heard, etc. Obviously yours is a more controversial car, but similiar reaction. I guess that is the ugly side of the hobby. I did want me to incinerate every price guide I could find though. My car sold for what I wanted, and yours will to. I saw it at Volo a few years ago, and it is gorgeous. Take care, and see you at the nats. Tony

You had a wonderful car for a fair price. To this day I regret not buying it.

I loved the auction!! My father and brother all had conversations last week about it. My father was one of the early bidders. I hope you sell it for close to the price. Opinions are everywhere, but I would love a 3 speed in that car. I like different cars and that is the ultimate one. If you pay close to $200 K for a car, you will not be racing it at the track anyway, so if it is a click or 2 slower than a 4 speed, who cares. Automatics are everwhere. 4 speeds are common, but there is only 1 of this baby!!!!!!!!!! List it again so I can enjoy it once more.

I've been watching this thread and biting my tongue. ANY car is only worth what a buyer is willing to spend.

If someone offered me 10K for my car, I'd probably take it and run. Do I think it's worth that much? Nope, only because I couldn't justify spending that much on it. Does anyone else think it's worth that much? I'm sure someone out there somewhere would think it was a killer deal. An 11 second street car that needs very little is probably worth 10K to someone.

Maybe its just me, but I have a limit on what I would sell my car for. If that limited isn't met, it stays in my garage, if someone were to offer me more, its GONE!

If someone out there thought this 1 of 1 car was worth a kazillion dollars, who are we to knock it? Unless of course, there was some hanky panky going on with the bidding, then that would be a completely different story.

Buying and selling cars deals more with personal preference. We all have a dream car and would be willing to pay different amounts to own that dream car. I, being the cheap person that I am, will NEVER own my dream car for the simple fact that I could never afford it and having a family and house, couldn't justify spending that kind of money on a car. What's worth big bucks to you, might be only worth pennies to me and vice versa. It's all about preferences and your own personal finances. Sentimental values are priceless.
