    Hi all,
Does anyone have 15x7 wheels with 4" bs in front on 70-72 skylark? Any rubbing or other issues?
I'm planning on using 255/60 tires.
    Thanks

The only time u may have rubbing on the front would be turning from/to a driveway at the curb.

What brand/model wheels if you remember? Do you still run them and with what size tires?
And do you by any chance have a pic of the car with them?:oops:

245 60R x 15 is the size closest to the G60 x 15 stock size for the 70 model year. Over the years some members have reported that 255s mounted on Buick factory rims rub on the front under some conditions. The condition of the front end relative to factory new is clearly a factor.

That is definitely something to consider but unfortunately (or maybe not) I already bought 255/60 tires. what I'm trying to decide now is on what wheels to run them. 15x8 with 4.5bs or 15x7 with 4bs and if I'll have rubbing or other issues with any of them.

Those are both 0 offset. IF there's any rubbing, it should be less with the 15 x 7

I already bought 15x7 wheels but thank you for added assurance) that's exactly the point I was making in another thread:
Quote 1.those wheels are 15x8 4.5bs and 15x7 with 4 which in both cases make up a 0 offset considering the lips and the mounting part is in the center so i thought 7s would work.
Quote 2. If 8" wide wheel, which actually including lips is 9" wide, with a 4.5" bs puts a wheel in the center of the wheel well with 4.5" on each side and does not rub logicallya 7" wide (8" including lips) with 4" bs should also put the wheel in the center with even less 4" on both sides and should not rub either. No?

I understand your point, I'd have more faith with the P245's. It's a matter of 3/8" less clearance on the outside, and about 1/2" wider tire (with the 255's). Since you already have the wheels, I guess we will find out. It could be fine.

If you have basically stock suspension in front I'm 95% sure the 255s will rub. Talked with a few people who have tried them including myself and they all said they rubbed in some cases.

When I had 255's on the front of mine on stock wheels, I investigated why it was rubbing. It rubbed on the drivers side only, and only at full lock. It turns out, it was rubbing on the outside (not inner) edge of the tire, at the rear of the wheelwell, hitting the inner fender. Passenger side was fine. I loosened the fender and inner fender bolts, and moved and tweaked the inner fender (it also took some pressure from my foot to re shape it a tad) enough to gain just enough clearance,

Well that info is not too promising for meo_OYou mean 15x7 ralleys? They have 4 3/8 bs right? Almost half an inch more than I have, which means that your wheel was sitting roughly 1cm deeper towards suspension and if it was still rubbing does it mean that my 15x7s with 4"bs shoud rub even more on the outside?:( good news is it probably won't rub on the inside:)

Yes, 15 x 7 OEM, 4-3/8 bs. Mine was an easy fix.

Do you know the diameter of the inflated tire?

It's cooper cobra gt and summit says 27.01 inches under tire diameter.

These are P255/60R-15 Cooper Cobra tires on the front of my car. That is a 15 X 7" wheel with 4 3/8" stock B.S.

Yeah I've came across this picture many times when browsing the hides section and even saved it. this car looks super sharp I absolutely love it!
    Quick questions:
    1.any rubbing issues?
2.are these white letter tires installed with letters inside? It's ok to do so right? (I love white letter look, but my rear tires are all black)
3.what do you have in the back 15x10 with 295, 325?

Oh and one more: what's the diameter of the inflated front tire 27.01?

No rubbing issues at all. My front springs were pretty fresh when I bought the car, and my 470 has aluminum intake and heads, it is probably 100 lbs lighter than an all iron 455. Oh and my A/C is removed right now.

Yes, white letters inside, I prefer that, and yes, that is fine, the Cooper tires are not unidirectional.

In the back are 15 X 8” wheels with 4.5” BS. Tires are Cooper Cobra P275/60R-15. The tire on the left side is actually a little close, so if I had it to do over again, I would go 5” BS. The bodies on these cars can be shifted a bit on the frame. Having more room on one side is not uncommon.

Yes the P255/60R-15 is 27” tall.
