For late 1955 models (spring 1955) Color code "F" ("Colonial Blue") was offered. On most paint chip charts (including DuPont) for 1955 no code "F" appears. Nor, does the color name "Colonial Blue" appear on those same paint chip charts. http://pc.dupont.com/hcl/search/imageViewer.jsp?imgurl=/hcl/data/Data/Domestic%20Cars/GM/Buick%201954-1961/BUI%201955/003094.jpg&mode=fullscrn http://pc.dupont.com/hcl/search/ima...k 1954-1961/BUI 1955/003096.jpg&mode=fullscrn On 1956 paint chip charts; color code "F" , color name "Cadet Blue" appears. http://pc.dupont.com/hcl/search/ima...k 1954-1961/BUI 1956/003098.jpg&mode=fullscrn For my car the Paint code is BFF . Or, Dover White/Colonial Blue/Colonial Blue. The paint on my car was mixed to match the color of the original paint the dash. Someone, has asked me what is the DuPont color code # for my car. Would, I be correct in saying that the paint the 1956 Color code "F" "Cadet Blue" is the the same as the 1955 Color code "F" "Colonial Blue" (DUCO 2174) ?
Cadet/Colonial Blue is amazingly beautiful! Your Roadmaster Riviera is drop-dead gorgeous! :TU: David
If you remember, I was asking you about the color of your car because I loved the color. I just bought a parts car for mine and it's code P, which I found on a PPG chip as Spring 55 color. The PPG chart lists the 55P the same as the 56F and appears to be lighter than your color. I think your 55F might a be a unique 55 Spring color only and not carried over to '56
The paint charts I see online don't list that blue at all. They don't even list it as being an option on 2 or 3 tone cars that year
I'm not sure which blue you're talking about. If you look at the '56 chip I linked to, you'll see the '55 spring colors.
I don't see colonial blue listed as an option until 1958 Here's the info on it from what I could find 1958 GM color Colonial Blue (Buick code F) Squadron Blue (Pontiac code D) Ditzler PPG code 11749 Dupont code 2674, 202-91624
Didn't see it till I blew the pic up big. So it was a limited release color until '58. That's pretty cool.
