For sale is a "barn find" of mine that I put back together. A few years back, my brother in Redding California told me of a widow and her son in law had opened her deceased husbands shop and found 30 classic cars. He told her years ago he wanted to play with a "few" cars and so she let him. Over the last 25 years, she never stepped foot into the garage until he passed.

Well, I happen to buy a 1964 Buick LeSabre Convertible from the estate. The top was rotten as well as the front seat, but the rest was all there. I had it shipped to my shop and tried to start the engine. It was frozen solid. It was an original 300V8 with a 4 bbl and 2 speed auto. With the engine and trans both bad, I sold the engine (sorry guys who are looking for the 4 bbl manifold) to a place here in Portland called Old Car Parts. He sold what I sold him, so all is gone. The reason for this is I had a 1966 425 nailhead in my garage with a T400. So, I cut the motor supports out of an extra big block Buick and welded them into the 64. I installed the engine/trans with ease. I had a custom drive-line made at this point. Since I own a mandrel bending/exhaust shop, I built a new (non-mandrel) dual exhaust with really quiet mufflers.

I bought a used OE wiring harness from a 64 full size and installed that in place of the 300 wiring harness. (starters and alternators are on wrong side) I then installed a larger radiator, plumbed in the power steering lines and got the car running. It actually runs REALLY well. I then removed the 2:87 open diff and installed a factory 3:23 drop in 9 3/8" positraction. (I still have 3 left) I then redid all of the brakes. With new shoes, cylinders, master cylinder and all new fluid. She stops on a dime.

I sanded the dash down, bought a quart of the original color and painted it. It is like a metallic blue. I then removed all of the interior and found that the floors are perfect. No holes, pits or water damage. So I lightly scuffed and put POR-15 on the floorboards, front and back. I then had the entire interior redone. All of the seat springs, frames etc were sandblasted and completely rebuilt. The interior is made from boat vinyl as it is more UV protected than normal vinyl. I told me upholsterer (A lady named Nancy) to do her magic and she could do whatever she wanted. So she chose the colors shown in the pics. The seats are SO comfortable and not rigid like your typical vinyl. I had her install new carpet and matting new door panels and kick panels. Then it came to the top. I had a new top made, and installed new rams lines and hydraulic motor/pump assy. It works great, no leaks.

The tires are the last set of 5 that I have I bought brand new. These are 2" white walls on factory steel wheels with wildcat hubcaps. I didn't like the LeSabre ones so I felt this is like a LeSabre Wildcat.

The truck is also rust free and coated with POR-15. I also have the original jack, etc in the trunk as well.

The car starts right up, purrs like a kitten, but easily accelerates and cruises REALLY nicely at 90 mph if you want to go that fast.

As far as the outside, I just replaced the front glass (it was cracked) and I had the car completely polished. I liked the patina look and why hide the 55 years of use only to cover it up with bondo. Plus you can see there is no bondo or chicken wire for body repair. I did not clear coat the paint as I have an old timer tell me that if I did, and someone wanted to paint it, it would be a paint to remove and it would keep in moisture and possibly make the car rust out. This car is ALWAYS garaged. All the windows roll up and down really smoothly.

I tried downloading some pics, but they wouldn't take. So I found a youtube video of the car before I had it buffed out. HERE IS THE LINK:

Yes, the interior is a little bold, but when you sit in the car, it is like your driving a brand new car. You forget about the patina on the outside. Its a cool and fun ride.

Also, the title is clean, clear and the license plates are OE 1964 Oregon Pacific wonderland that are on the title and the car. I found a set of Plates with the '64 sticker still on them and had them transferred to the car.
