    Hey Guys,
I'm new to this forum, and I'm from Copenhagen, Denmark, Europe.
I'm looking for a nice original 1965 Skylark.
Most of all I want a 4 door sedan, and if that can't happen, it must be a 2 DR HT.
    My wishes are:
    As good as rust free.
V8 and Automatic transmission. Original driveline (300engine and Super Turbine Automatic transmission).
    All original inside and outside.
Inside: no newer seats or modern steeringwheel and so on. No refurbished/re-covered seats. It doesn't matter if the seats have a crack or 2 as long as they are original and in ok condition.
Outside: Original paint -it doesn't matter if it's burned from the sun or if it is ugly.
    Bench front seat
    No floor shift
All moldings and chrome must be there

If any of you guys have a nice car who can fit most of what I mention above, I would be very happy if you would write to me. Also if you guys see an interesting car on the web, I would be very thankful if you would send me the links.

I know my demands are pretty high, and I know it is very hard to find a 40-something car which is almost not touched be a human. But please feel free to write me, and maybe it's the right car you have.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Lots of greetings to all of you guys here from Denmark:)

    Hey Mike,
its was very nice of you to offer me the car you just found, but I'm deeply in love with the 65, so it must definately be that modelyear. But once again it was very nice of you to think of me, and I'm sure its a good car. It sounds amazing that it only has 31000 miles on it.
Have a nice weekend and lots of greeting here from Denmark:)

    Hey Michael,
thanks for the tip. I have already seen the car, and thats exactly the type of car I'm looking for. But I am very difficult to satisfy sometimes, and I'm just not very much into the colour combination. Both inside and outside. Somebody might call me stupid for not purchasing that car, but I'll rather pay a little more or wait a little longer, and then get the right car.

I saw a blue 1965 Skylark 2 DR HT a few weeks ago, but unfortunately it was gone. I would very much have liked to buy that car. I'm not able to post a link, but the headline was "nice looking 65 Skylark $4500". It was posted under Cars And Parts For Sale Leads.

But once again thanks for the tip, Michael. It was very nice of you:)

    Lots of greetings from Denmark

    Jens

Jens - I am not trying to quibble your choice - but perhaps you might want to rethink some things.

    1. If someone switched the steering wheel - well, it isn't so much rocket surgery to change it back to an original one - although matching the specific color might present a problem.

    2. Make sure you ask about rocker panels and floor boards - you really want them rust free, or the price drops.

    3. Also, you want to ask about "all the lights" outside and inside.
There should be NO broken lenses ($50 - $150 a pop); NO burnt wires causing (for instance) wipers to go on when you turn on the lights ;-(((

    4. Radio (stereo ?); tape player; or CD player should be original - if not the owner should be able to explain what was removed and what was added. Was it done professionally or by the neighbor's teenage rock star ?

    5. Of course, engine and tranny need to be running well, as required.

Last, but not least, should you locate a car, you might post a picture hereabouts - and ask if anyone lives close by that could perform an "inspection" for you ? Lots of guys will do that for you, some are Professionals (get paid) - others are just like you and me - helping others. That's NOT a knock on a "Pro Inspection". You will need to give the "inspector" an authorization to look on your behalf -they will need the name of the current owner, an arranged address to " meet at " - like at a garage with a lift to look underneath, and a telephone number to call the contact. . . All these things should be easy to obtain from a prospective seller.

You and your future car are WELCOME here, stay in touch.

    Hello Rip,
I really appreciate all of your good advice:) It so fantastic with a forum like this, where you can get help from all around the world.
I once had a statement that said, that I wouldn't buy a car unless I had seen and tried it. But I really want a 1965 Skylark, and it is almost impossible to find a decent one here in Denmark where I live. There used to be a lot of them, but our climate has killede most of them, and the ones which are left are very often in a poor condition. This is the reason why I look in the USA for a nice original one, since it is the homeland of the Buick, and there's a wider range of the 1965 Skylarks here.
I realize that I can't personally look at the car and try it, so I often ask of pictures in a high resolution, which I can look at. Unfortunately thats not always enough, so therefore it's amazing with a forum like this and guys like you with a lot of good advice. All of your points make sence, and if I find something interesting, and a question pops in my mind, I will with no hesitation ask among all my Buick friends here on this forum. Allready you have been a great help :)

Thanks for all of you guys positive feedback so far:)

    Greetings from
    Jens

    Hi Jen
I hope it works out for you. It sure looks like a nice car, and he was offering to bring it to Omaha from California because he has family there,so it must be road worthy. Anyway i hope it works out for you.

    Hi Mike,
once again thank you for thinking of me. I went to see the car on craigslist and went to carsoup.com as well to look at some more pictures. What I'm really looking for is a 4 door and if that is not possible I would like a 2 dr ht. I know I'm hard to satisfy, but when I have to pay for shipping, toll and taxes + the price of the car, I want the car to be the one I want. The convertible looks fine though, and the price is also fair I think. But it's "only" a 6 cylinder, and I must say that allthough a V6 sounds good, it's the V8 I want. It's simply the best sound in the world:)
But once again thanks, Mike. All your help is greatly appreciated:)

    Greetings here from Denmark

    Hey Tom,
thanks a lot for the link. I'll write him an email, and ask for some pictures. Allthough it's an original/true Skylark I'm looking for, this car might be interesting.
Once again thank you for your helpful link, and I wish you good luck in your hunt too, and I hope you find the right car:)

    Hi NorCal.Buicknut,
with my knowledge of 1964 and 1965 Skylarks/Specials, I would say the headline is wrong in the ad, since it looks like a 1965 Special to me and not a 1964 as the ad says. Unfortunately it is a V6 with a manual transmission and on top of that it is "only" a Special. But the car looks nice though, and I think it would be an ok car. I just really would like a true 1965 Skylark. But a big thank you for thinking of me, and sending me the link.

Regarding the other 1965 Skylark you heard of, it would be truly amazing if you could take a look at it. But only if it's not of any trouble for you. As you might know it must be a V8 + automatic transmission, no rust (or as good as no rust) and with all chrome moldings and so on there. If it's the original paint it would be the best. If you were able to take some pictures too in a high resolution it would be perfect.

I don't know what the procedure is in here, when you are looking at a car for me? Should I send you gas money or maybe something else? All I know is that you don't know how grateful I am, and I really appreciate the very kind offer from you. It's very nice of you and as I said before, you should only do it, if it is of no trouble for you at all.

    Lots of greetings

    Jens
