Thanks Jim, It is a cool car. It was as close to a 66 Skylark Promo as I could get.

OK Guys/Gals , Is this car a promo car or just a model? If it is a model who made it? Thanks, Bob

Not sure, on mine the hood doesn’t open like yours.

Might be an original AMT Model from 66? Don't think they made Wildcat promos 66. I do see repros of the model. I have had it around 10 years so I think it is original. No name on the bottom.

AMT released these in the mid-Nineties, they were actually a warmed over version of the original promo from the mid-60s. I built 4 of them, converted one to a convertible. Almost no way to tell them apart. The model has the 65 Interior, not the 66. I think the original was a promo for 65, and then they just warmed it up and put 66 GS Wildcat logos on it.
I think the only way to tell them apart is to look for the copyright date on them, the later versions would be AMT/Monogram, whereas the originals would be just AMT.

Thanks Marc , I do not see either AMT or AMT /Monogram anywhere on the car.

They usually put the copyright date and manufacturer on the underside in the floor ribs or on a frame rail. Don't know about the originals, but AMT loved to re-release kits every ten years or so and the re-releases were usually marked. Tough to see at times, and some guys were known to file them off. I'll look around and see if I still have one of those kits (can't remember if we tossed the whole lot when we moved 10 years ago) and if I do, I'll let you know where to look.
