This is a kinda necro post re quote but I also always liked the the 66 rear over the 67 but the 67 front rules..
I wonder too how it would look.:) If anyone is good with some type of imaging pic's and can do some type of photo magic I would like to see that combo!

I don’t have the car home yet but the paint might not be original as there is no trace of the factory pinstripe.

  4. I had an all original 66 GS that didn't have the Pinstripe

A 66 GS with a 67 front end would look like a 67 from the front?
Personally, I like the 67 grill, but not the extra pointy front end with the raised panel on the hood..... it looks like a cute girl with a big honkin nose!

    LOL!
I did get to see part of what it would look like.. In the about the last year of driving my 66 I was side swiped on the front of it in a snowy day and it somehow only the hood wrecked and the latch. A friend knew someone who just happened to have a 67 GS hood and grill for get this $25!! and it was just about the same Sky green color, just a snitch off.. I only put the hood on but the tip of it came out to the 66 bumper and maby an inch more. I didn't fix the latch and did "stupidly" learn quickly to never use just a bungy cord to hold down the hood as the first time I drove it flipped open when I hit 40 or 50, somehow I got out of that with no damage..

That's funny 'cause I look at '66's as the '67's uglier older sister with a nice ass. ;):D

8CB2A45B-CC82-4E96-AE32-127E23D10D15.jpeg So far I got the new exhaust on the car, installed a factory AM/FM radio, and the new wheels and tires as well as new gas tank, fuel lines, etc. I could use a speedometer head if anyone knows a source for that. The wheels are Cragar 510’s as I wanted an almost stock look. It sounds and runs great.

I personally like the front on both 66 & 67 cars. To me they both look good, just different. My 2 cents!

  13. Even though they're essentially the same size car I like the 66's better because they appear a little smaller and more streamlined especially in the nose.

Glad to see the car is turning out to be a good project

i love 66s..and just cant appreciate a 67..never could and ive had a bunch...i even thought a 67 would "grow on me"...nope....never gonna own another unless its a parts car or some kinds weird stick shift..but thats just me..i owned a 67 GS 400 post car witha 3 speed stick and a consolette...and that didnt last long..and it was everything i love..except that front end..and tail section...dont know why...

i personally just love the clean look front and rear of the 66s..love them..always have and for over 35 years have continuously owned at least 1 66 at all times..its a nostalgia thing im sure....

i prob have a few speedos....

not telling you what to do, but a good bath with CLR diluted with water would really change the look of the paint..it wont shine but it would really make the existing paint look so much better...just google it and look at pics..it would clean off all the stains etc and bring the true color out, and be more survivor-ish looking..i did it on my silver 66 and it is night and day..took staining off and the paint oxidation, etc..made a diff now you can tell my car is silver and not grey-ish white

Thanks Mark, no it has not been washed yet and I still need to clean out the interior. I’m also waiting for plates so it can be driven more.

A week or so ago my buddy told me that the Midas muffler shop in town here had a 63 skylark in for whatever repairs. Well of course this instantly sparked my curiosity cause there are no other 63 Skylarks (or 61-63 Y bodies) around here to my knowledge. Well the O'Reilly's auto parts store is located right behind the Midas muffler shop, so everytime I was going to O'Reilly's for parts I would try to see what it was, but they had it tucked in the far end bay and I could not get enough visual of it to positively id the year, but being the Buick guy I am I seen it was definately a Buick! Well today when I drove by it was parked out in the front row and I instantly recognized it as a 66 GS and checked it out a good bit more. After looking at it for a moment it dawned on me that it is Jim's car!

Later I informed my buddy that I seen the car and knew exactly what it was, then I told him I also knew who owned it and he was totally surprised I knew so much.

BTW the car looks so much better in real than the pics posted! Its a sweet looking ride for sure!
