You keep saying the 67 is a one piece. I post a pic of a 67 with a 2 piece column. you keep telling me 68 is the first year.

But what your saying is both of my 67s were made 68 columns

Well 2 out of 3 aint bad. '67 and '68's are both 1 year only columns that only look the same from the inside of the car.

Okay let me try to explain.....'67's technically have a 2 piece shaft but really only separate or become 2 pieces upon impact. The pic the OP posted is for a '68 that requires an intermediate shaft to mate between the column and the steering box. See how the shaft ends a couple of inches past the column?....A grease filled u-jointed shaft gets attached right there and is why i'm calling it a 2 piece shaft...

It looks like this when installed............
    '68 -'72 steering column.jpg
If you look at this pic you can see the difference between the two..........

A'68 column will fit in a '67 with some dash bracket mods and the right intermediate shaft.
I was under the false impression when I bought a '68 tilt column off of ebay that it was the same as the '67 column. I was WRONG..... and had to modify the dash bracket in order to get it to fit.
I now have the proper '67 tilt column in my car and have since sold the '68 column. Sorry I don't have any close up pics to better show what i'm talking about.

    Interesting
The one I listed for sale came out of a 1967 Buick gs
And the other one I took pictures of in the engine compartment is in a 1967 gs convertible

That 's a good close up pic of a '67 column. Clearly visible are the 2 nylon "shear pins" that allows the two half's become one long shaft that collapse into each other upon impact.

You know, it's quite possible that GM used up all of their '67 columns by putting them in some early '68's. Just speculation on my part, who really knows all that happened back then??

    Hi Marc,

Thanks for the pics. The thing attached to the fender is what I am after. How much do you want for it?
