    Hi All:
I Live in Erie, Pa and bought this Buick about 20 years ago. I did a bunch of work on it then just to get it to drive. The engine compartment had caught fire and melted the carb and most of the wiring. Then someone came along and vandalized it by smashing every peice of glass out with ballbats or something. Thank god they didn't touch the body....why...who knows. This was all before I bought the car.... it was a mess.
I drove it as a second car, and showed it off for a few years untill I lost interest......or pursued other interests actually...and I stored it away for the last 11 or 12 years. This spring I uncovered it and dragged it out from its dusty resting place. It actually faired pretty well as the barn it was in was well ventilated and stayed pretty dry.
The first thing it needed was all the fluids changed, new belts, hoses, etc.
Then discovered it had no brakes, so 4 new wheel cylinders later it now has brakes. I actually drove it home (about 30 miles).
That where the real fun began. I immediately start taking off parts. The engine compartment is so ugly from the fire, everything needs to be degreased and repainted. And thats where I am now.
I'll try to keep this thread updated on this project... I've been working on it for about a month now, a few hrs a day. Comments are welcome and I'll take any critisism constructively. Thanks for looking.

Hi Craig,Looks like things are coming along nicely on your car.I would recommend that since car is tore down as far as you have it now to go ahead and remove motor for sandblasting.Believe me that sand will go everywhere;and the last place you what it is in your motor!!ONCE YOU START BLASTING YOU WILL FIND DUCT TAPE WILL NOT KEEP SAND OUT.Besides with enigine out it can be detailed easier and you can lift car and blast floorpans as well.If you decide not to pull motor I would at last make a metal block off plate for carb opening and silicone it down and use black beauty instend of sand as it isn't as hard on engine inturnal parts as it does break down before sand would.

    Rusty,
Thanks for the advice....I really am still debating whether to pull the motor or not at this point. I dont have and engine hoist or havent found access to one so that is why I am waiting to see if I can get my hands on one. You are right about the sand inside the engine and I know that I dont even want one grain inside there. The metal plate idea is a good one. I think I'll make one for the fuel pump opening also.
I want the paint to stick so I want the block and intake real clean down to bare metal. Should I use some type of primer or will the spray bomb engine paint from Year-One stick without problems? Any other advice will be greatly appreciated.

Wire wheels work very nicely. Chuck one up in your drill and go at it. Consider that before sandblasting, in your situation.

    67 Project

Looks like you are deep into the project. I found www.wiringharness.com
to be a real good source for a new main wiring harness for my 67 GS, in case you need one. It doesn't look like you'll be ready for BPG Nationals in Salem, OH next month, but come over and see some really nice 67s and others there. I think Gary Thompson might have his unreal Red restored 67GS 455 there, Jerry Swirik turns 10's in his, and some other really sweet drool pieces. Best of luck with the project.

    Hello Banburi,
I picked up a used wiring harness on ebay about a year ago and had to put it on to get the car running. The fuseable links at the starter were fried on the old one.
I would Love to get to Salem, OH for the BPG Nationals, If I can arrange a day off from work. I am already planning to go for a day. What day is the best..I see it runs August 11 thru 14. I cant seem to find a schedule of events. Is there a car show or swap meet?
    BTW......Beautiful Car....

:TU: to you Craig!!! Nice car, it's going to be better when you get done. :beer
You're only a few minutes from having the motor out. I would pull it now so you don't have to later. A dirty engine in a clean perfect compartment will bug you to death. Don't ask me how I know :Dou:

    Good luck :beer

I've been working on my front inner fender wells. All painted and undercoated on the inside. I used a rubber mat material i picked up in the carpet section at Lowes for the inner fender rubbers. Its not quite the stock material, but it looks like brand new compared to the old ones. I made my own staples from 19 guage galvanized wire. Worked perfectly.
