Hey yall this is my first post, I just finished building a street/strip chevy nova and now working on a 1968 Buick Skylark. My dad just wants a mild build just for cruising and he wants me to fit some 17'' wheels to give it that pro touring look.
Without any modifications to rear housing or wheel wells what can I do for the front and for the back on 17" looking for tire size, backspacing and rim width. Also just out of curiosity while on this post what are some good lowering parts companies and disc brake conversions?

    Thanks

If you want to replace tires and wheels, you'll want to stay close (within .5") to the original overall tire height so your gearing and speedometer calibration remain unchanged. The original tires were 7.75 X 14 which is about a P205/75R-14. That tire is about 26.1" tall. With bigger wheels, the sidewall needs to be shorter to maintain the overall height the same. A P245/50R-17 is 26.6" tall and would fit very nicely on an 8" wide rim.

You will need 5" of back spacing on an 8" wide rim for the back. It should be fine on the front as well.

I would think you can just buy A body disc brake spindles and single piston calipers for like a 70 Chevelle. Maybe a kit like this may work,

Same thing for lowering kits, 64-72 GM A body kits should work.

I'm sure others will post with ideas, this is just my first thoughts.
