After all, it is Craigslist. I have to give the guy credit though- Its fairly clean so he actually knows about the existence of something called car wash soap no tires on the hood or debris covering car He took the car cover off first he actually had the motivation to move it out of the dimly lit garage before taking pictures of it No beer cans, cigarette butts or condom wrappers in the back seat Not completely covered in snow or weeds no trees in front of car No out of focus pics no thumb covering plate coherent description with no red flags that your going to meet a crack head so....
...He might be forgiven for not owning a vacuum as a result of Jason's good points, but if that was the case, he could have gone to a coin-op one and cleaned it there. I'd be more tempted to think of giving up $16,500 if it was spotless, but in it's careworn shape, no, even though it is fairly well optioned out.
Well, while checking out some '67-'72 Chevy trucks for a buddy of mine's daughter, I just happened to come across this car in a random "what's in the other garage?" scenario. Was there looking at a couple '72 trucks, and saw a garage away from the house with one door open and could see something inside. Guy says, oh, that's my Riviera, wanna see? So we did. Owner's name is Bob, old carpenter/builder guy who collects mostly trucks. Super nice fella. Anyway, we go up to look at the car and it's this one. Car is extremely nice, newer paint and a well done top. He says the color is original but with more metallic added, it's extremely smooth with no orange peel and I could only find one small stone chip on the front of the hood which had been touched up, definitely a well done professional paint job. The top is in great shape and well done. The interior he says is all original except carpet, and is in really nice shape. I only found one small crack on the steering wheel, but other than that it looked tip top. Car fires right up with no smoke and no noises, everything works as it should except for the cruise control. The headlights are a little slow but work properly, seems like they just need lubed on the pivot points. All power windows go up and down fast and smooth. Glass and trim all are all excellent, and the bumpers are rechromed. I could see no leaks to speak of underneath, and the frame and floors look very solid with no undercoating to hide anything.....Anyway, this is a very nice car and if I was in the market for a 2nd generation Riv, I wouldn't hesitate on this one. Only thing I could see it needing is an engine compartment spruce up and detailing.
Looks like a decent drive, I sure am not seeing a $17K Riv though. It sure has enough extra wires hanging here there and everywhere
Is it me or does anyone else suspect it needs a floor pan on the drivers side ??? The carpet appears to be falling thru the hole .
Thanks Lucas, I'd trust your judgement on the car, but like Keith says, it's nice but I'm having trouble seeing $17K in it. But...if it was negotiated down, it could be well bought at $13-14.
