I kinda wanted this car but was reluctant to pay the $125 bidder registration fee. Would have bid it too $12k -- sold for $14,250. So I guess I saved my money.

Weird thing is the rear quarters said "Sportwagon 400 California"

Saw that SptWgn. Was a beauty, but not a local.

The "California" designation as you may know was given by the Cali.Buick Dealer Group back then, as an area promotion.

Mainly found as an appearance option on the GS340 in '67. then the GS 350's thru '68 & 1969.

If you're still looking for a Sportwagon. Let me know. I live about 15 minutes from Ft.Laud.
2 heads better than 1 type of thing.

    I grew up with '65 300/4bbl, '67 340/4bbl /T-400 & '69 400/4bbl Sportwagons, all that my Dad bought brand new. :beer

Yeah, but was there really a sportwagon 400 California?:Do No:

The California GS was a 350; I would have assumed that a California Sportwagon was a 350.

Not really looking -- just want one. Wouldn't have really liked the red interior in that one, though. Still, one sweet ride.

No, I'm sorry Steve. I didn't mean tio imply that a California Sportwagon was ever available. I had never heard or come across one either.
Yea, I agree on the Red gut, but the condition was nice. We all know how a white car can hide body imperfections. This one was neat.

I did see an Astro Blue '69 with matching Blue interior (my Dad's '65 was this combo) and 14" mags on ebay a couple of months back. Also real sweet, and I think it got to $13k+, tho I think the Buy It Now price was $14,995.

For $23,500, I think the dealer is going to hold onto that car for a while. Yeah, it's as sweet as can be, but the people who want that specific car are few and far between.

Only thing the new owner did to that car was remove about fifteen vintage stickers from the rear passenger window from western states and US parks. they were cool enough, old enough, and in good enough shape that I would have left them.
