I agree wholeheartedly. Someone stole this car...at that price they can correct some of the things that were half-assed and still be in it for a song. Crazy, I should have bought it back, I will regret that for a long time. :Dou:

Mike I met you at BG when you brought this newly purchased car from Arkansas
I remember you made a real good buy on it. I do remember you saying you were going to restore it. I guess you decided to make a quick flip and did quite well for yourself. Congratulations for that insight. I looked at it and decided I could not afford take it on, and I did not see the flip potential in it. I cannot blame the buyer for not making it a concours car because if he did he would have lost thousands more. I wish they all could be perfect but some cars cannot be restored to that level. Most people I know understand that a car like the 69 will cost close to 6 figures to properly restore and well over 1000 hours.
I feel for the owner and wish I had the 22k to invest as if I did I would own that one.

Well, partially true. I didn't intend on a "quick flip" when I bought it. I was offered $13,000 and $15,000 from two different people that weekend but did not want to sell it. I had every intention of restoring it but, alas, decided I would not have the money to do it the way I wanted to. It could have been done for well under a six-figure investment though. We just completed a nut and bolt frame-off on a '69 4-speed convertible that totalled about $56,000 as of our last calculations and that included the purchase price of the car (which was a good bit more than I paid for the hardtop). It really depends on whether you want to do a little legwork on your own (finding parts, etc.). I ended up selling it for a little more in the end, only because I came upon a very nice deal on a low-mileage Rebel Machine that I had always wanted. I would have been very happy with either car, but the Rebel made more sense financially for me, at the time. I knew it would be another year or more before I could spend $40 or 50 grand to restore the GS, and I had several people asking to buy it, so I made an "executive decision". In a lot of ways I regret it, as I know I will never have an opportunity like that again to own what is my favorite Buick, especially in that color combo with the pedigree that car had. Yes, you would have been very happy with it if you would have had the money, just like I would have been if I'd have had the cash to do it myself. I think the owner was in a hurry to get rid of it, otherwise I think he could have taken it at least a couple steps further and, through the right channels, gotten a lot more for it. Someone got a great deal.

Speaking of which, does anyone know who ended up with it? Is it a board member? My guess is that it may have been a dealer who saw the potential and we'll see it at B-J or Mecum next year. :Do No:
