    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

Nice looking car, the description of the ignition switch/key and tumbler issue seems very confusing.

66electrafied Just tossing in my nickel's worth

I had a 69 Wildcat, those were the first year for the column ignition switch, and mine locked up and failed. It just wouldn't work, the key wouldn't rotate, so I disconnected the rod and ran the car that way until I could figure out how to take it apart. Luckily someone had broken the lock on it years before.

    TrunkMonkey Totally bananas

I think that means it the starter engages and turns the engine over, (and may start), but the engine will not run if the key is returned to "Run". I have seen that in cars with ignition switches and worn contacts. (or could be resistor wire is broken, and only getting power to coil during crank from the "R" (relay) off the solenoid.

    Quick Buick Arlington Wa

I've run in to that problem quit a few times.
With the key in the run mode I got power to the IGN points.
with the key in the start position I get power to the starter but no power to the ignition
with key to run mode bump the solenoid. motor runs... Change out the switch or clean it all good.
