I just started on a frame-off restoration of my 1970 GS 350 4-speed. I bought the car in 1985 and soon after dropped in a 455. It had been painted before I got it, was sliver and is now white. I have not done this before so I'm learning as I go. I don't plan on doing any bodywork or paint myself but will do everything else. Here are some pics.
Car was assembled in Flint. Frame was manufactured by Hayes on Dec 4, 1969, 1st shift. Frame part number is 3960733. Frame markings were found on the drivers side near the rear bumper. I found the build sheet on top of the gas tank. The protecto-plate was in the glove box.
This is the rust-proof primer (moisture cured urethane) and paint topcoat (2 part urethane) I used, not too expensive, 1 qt each did the whole thing.
The best out there! Ive used it for years! You may want to consider to spray the entire body before you do any body work.. check out the link http://www.masterseriescoatings.com...=vintage-cars-fort-mill-sc&image=DCP_0902.JPG
Scott- looks great. Keep up the good work. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Are you going to have the body media blasted? That's the way to find the rust areas! Keep the updates coming.
You have me convinced with the MasterSeries Coatings, for the Stage 1 resto! Going shopping...:beers2: Looks Great, so far, Scott!
