This is what I do. This rear is the same as my 70 rear, only mine is 3:64.
Nice 1970 housing from a Nevada car,FabCraft 3:42 gears, modified Detroit Tru-Trac 30-spline helical gear posi unit,Moser 30-spline axles, and Timken bearings/seals. I have a plain cover on mine, but this one is getting a TA girdle cover. The unit and axles shafts are the same price, whether they are 28 or 30-spline,so it only makes sense to just upgrade to 30-spline.

Any reason why you weld the ring gear spacer in ? It will not help the ring gear bolt defection one way or the other... (keep the options open for other gearing. )
I am adding this up in my head as I know the prices. It is nice... BUT reasoning???? you could build such a better rear... Stronger rear with less money. The 27 spline pinion will be the failure. Putting an aftermarket yoke on there too will help.
It is Very nice. Like you said low production run and making money on these will be hard.
I am trying the 14 bolt 65 -70 Impala waters...lol. Will see what that brings. 9.5 14 bolt gm

As seen... ANY thing can be done if you have the money
    Excellent Stuff.

The spacer was milled to the correct thickness, and there is still enough journal for the ring gear to press onto. I also narrowed the carrier .060” on each side,to duplicate the width of the Buick carrier. It was almost dead-on with the factory .196” shims on each side, but I tweaked it a little with a .200” on the left, and .192” on the right.
No,I would never mass-produce these to make money. That won’t happen. Someone that wants to keep everything original, and doesn’t want to mess around with driveshafts, this is an option. I did mine because it was the original rear to the car,so I just upgraded it.

Yes,we got our first snow of the season Friday night through Saturday morning. It rained all day Friday, then changed to snow. I had over 10” of the heavy wet stuff. It renders a snowblower useless because it will just clog it.
