Amazing how someone let a car of that caliber get into such poor condition......what a shame.

    Rich,

Can you give us the story behind the car?? Where it came from etc..
    It looks pretty interesting.

Looks like someone used a can opener on the pass side door near the lock. Probably years of "No it's not for sale. I'm going to restore it someday"?

This GSX spent most of it's life in New York State and Alabama, window parking stickers on bumper and windshield prove it was in both states for a long time.
The car was never hot rodded, just driven, used as a regular car.
Yes, the side door lock access is a nice feature, probably done back in 1984 when it was just an old car:3gears:

I'd throw a good built drivetrain in that old boy and race it just like that...Wish I had the coin to buy it. Surely would make alot of conversations at the track...lol That would be a perfect back half example...

I'd like it as a street car just like that; especially for the conversations...
It looks tough as nails just like that.

Is that right on the gears, I thought the sticks came with 3.64 gears not 3.42's ???

Rough car, but worth fixing if you have alot of cash (I don't).

I recall Dennis Manner told us they limited the rear ratio to 3.42 based on the presence of AC. They found that winding up the RPMs tended to damage the compressor. We owned a 70 GS 455 convert with AC and a 4 speed. It had a 3.42 rear ratio.

If you look at the last sheet on Wayne's decode this GSX was designated as a "demonstrator". It must have happened before but I just do not recall seeing one.

David, standard gear ratio for 1970 GSX was 3.42 posi auto or 4 speed.

In a regular GS 455 car 2.93 open axle was standard with Automatic, AC or non AC and 3 and 4 speed regular GS 455 cars received 3.42 open axle as standard equipment.
In both cases with regular GS 455 auto /stick a posi was never standard, it had to be ordered.
Only non AC Stage 1 GS's and GSX's in 1970 received 3.64 posi axle ,all AC ordered Stage 1 GS's and GSX's recieved 3.42 posi axle.
