I am looking for the brackets and related parts to convert my 70 Electra to disc brakes. If anyone has the parts collecting dust let me know.

I have a booster assembly. (70 Impala). Going to assume that it is the same. Any experts feel free to correct me here.

Much of the stuff needed are one yr. ONLY parts. Like disc brake rotors for one. If you find a set expect to PAY $$$. They should be a minimum thickness of 1 inch.

So I would need to find a donor 70 Rivy, Wildcat, or Electra for the parts I need? Wouldnt a 69 be the same?

Yes on the donors, even a LeSabre. NO on the '68-'69

Consider a 70 Estate Wagon as a donor.

Yes, the Estate Wagon is in the same group as the full size cars.

Prior post: If you're like me, you have looked around without much luck for a simple solution to convert your front drums to disc brakes. There are lots of options for A-Body Skylarks but not the B-Bodies. I mean who needs good brakes more than a guy driving an 18ft long convertible??? Some guys in Australia have created brackets you can buy to convert the spindles, then you buy the rest of the parts list they provide (all standard pieces from later model Buicks). When you are done you know you can go down to the local parts store and get rotors or pads. They will ship the brackets to the states - no hassles. I spotted this option a week or so back and plan to buy a set. Maybe someone else has a better solution but I have not seen it. Thought i would share.

You can buy on e-bay or via their website http://mako.com.au/

So it comes with only the brackets. Shipping costs weigh heavily there. Then the conversion part list. Has anyone used either of these kits scarebird or mako?

AS indicated by others, 1970 is a 1 year only -- and BUICK only, no other GM Full Size vehicle.......
Unless you find a donor car -- abandon that project - and go with a "standard" disc brake conversion ... if you feel the need to even bother --
you have JUMBO 12" Brakes on that vehicle -- they are more than enough.....you aren't driving your car in Midtown New York rush hour traffic, are you???????????

1970 is VERY VERY different from 1967 - 1969 -- because that was 4 Piston Caliper with very different ROTORs, parts, etc., etc...........

I have to agree. Those 12" Aluminum drums are more than adequate to stop those vehicles. The disc brake option was few and far between on those models.

Save your money and searches . Just make sure your system ; Steel Lines , hoses and wheel cylinders is 100%

DESERT VALLEY HOOKED ME UP A FEW YEARS AGO PARTS STILL HERE. THE SYSTEM YOU NEED COMES OFF A 76 ELECTRA. PRETTY EASY TO FIND. I HAVE ALL THE NEW PART NUMBERS AS I TOOK IT TO ORIELIES THEY LOOKED IT UP FOUND IT AND I TRADED IN THE OLD ONES. THE ONLY THING I AM USING OLD IS THE SPINDLES. THIS IS A UNIQUE REAR STEARING BOX SO IT TOOK THEM A WHILE TO FIND WHAT FIT.
