I know not much is made for the buick full size rears of the late 60s and 70. Is there ANYTHING made for them? Bearings, posi clutch packs, etc.
Check with monzaz (J D Race) on this site. He is the fellow whole sells & and builds rear ends. Great fellow! I purchased items an Eaton Posi & bearings from him.
66-70 we have Bearing kits and clutch packs for the posi NEW stuff. The gears and posi unit etc are all USED original parts...WE are currently out of used gears and posi units. Had them about 5 years back pretty plentiful ...All gone now. Our yards in Ohio area are picked clean from the over seas rush on metal ... shame I seen alot of good yards go down to the buy outs and EPA Clunkers for cash program etc. Remember in 1971 - 1976 there is NO Buick rear end. It was Olds 12 bolt - Pontiac (10 cover 12 bolt ring) 8.875 and corp 10 ten bolt 8.5 rear in all BOP and chevy Full size cars Jim J D
How much is new clutches for these rear ends? I'm unsure of the condition of mine, but would like to find a better posi unit for my 455 I'm building in the mid 3 range.
Pm us we do not like putting prices up on the forum it stays forever and some years later always finds that price...lol. We always have to explain that was 5 years ago price. What do you mean find a better posi... there is only one EATON design posi for the 66-70 era. And even in 1966 (which you should not try to find it is totally different than the 67-70 which has 2 different sizr bearing hubs on the carrier. Unless youyr saying to need a different series...which is only what I can decipher,... Jim J D Race
It is not easy to find any full size car rear differential parts anymore. Not at a wrecj=king yard anyways... In the ohio area...
This car has a short time until crush. '69 Electra 225 coupe. Rear housing is tweaked from LR hit, but has good 12 in? drums, backing plates, hardware and rear cover. Also have one front drum in beautiful condition, w/ bearings. Car still has front spindles and steering box intact. If anyone is in need of clean chassis parts for their full size , PM me.
Another option would be to get the chebby sister car 12 bolt rear end and get pretty much any size rear gears you want for that 12 bolt chebby rear end, with several different posi choices as well! Craigslist would be your friend to locate one, you may have to do a road trip to find one but they're out there. I live in Mich. and a few years ago found the 12 bolt Impala rear end I was looking for in Ohio, a couple several hours later I had the thing home along with the sweet frame I bought as well. Derek
I have a 3.07 gearset from my 66 Riviera which i would gladly exchange for that 2.73 if they fit. I have a late rear design with 2 identical bearings if i recall. I will check it tomorrow to be sure about it. Peace.
