Just wondering what is meant when trying to buy the belt for a compressor they ask whether it has a "performance Axle" or not.

How can I tell which one I have?

Smaller pulley is 5”, larger appears to be 5 5/8” or so. Is your car a Stage 1? Was it built with 3.42 rear gears as a separate option?

I will have to measure pulley. My car is not a stage 1. The build sheet should tell me if I got special gears?

If you have it, post a picture. Some on here (probably Duane) can decode your gears and probably your compressor. But that won’t tell what it has now; it could have been swapped in 50 years.

...per '71 Assy Manual page 6-5.2, all GSs got large pulley compressor (label part# 5910725), my (non-Stage) 455 has a 25. Skylarks got a 5910724. Don't know if true for other years...

Mine has the 725 serial number and the outside diameter of the pulley is 5 5/8”
Funny that when I sent away for a replacement Frigidaire sticker I told them I wanted the original for my car and they sent a sticker with 5910597
    What Buick’s got 597????
