What are the original GM part numbers for the v belts on a Buick GS 455? Need the numbers for the power steering belt, delcotron belt and a/c belt.

Stage 1 ? If so the AC belt is different ( bigger) and has another number.

i saw that. Not sure if those are right or not. I've got a chassis manual and the numbers are different than those and it doesn't give a number at all for one of the belts. I'm looking for the original part numbers for the belts that would have come on the car new. Stage 1 and non stage. Anyone know why the belt was different for the stage 1? Different size pulley maybe??

Not sure if this will help. From a Sept. 69 Preliminary parts book.

Thanks. What do the asterisks after some of the part numbers mean?

Asteriks refer to new parts for the production year. In this case 1970.

Here's what I've come up with please let me know if anything is wrong or there are better choices

    P/S = 1378417 (51.25") = Modern Equivalent _ _512 (51.75")
    ALT = 1231018 (49.125") = Modern Equivalent _ _490 (49")
    A/C = GS 455 Base 1381471 (64.375") = Modern Equivalent _ _640 (64")
    Stage One 1387173 (65.625") = Modern Equivalent _ _650 (65")

All the numbers are listed in the assembly manual. Don't have one? Why not? You will never find original part number belts. They were all superseded with new numbers y 1975.

The alt belt you list is for a base 455 not a Stage-1. Stage-1 was 545284.

I have one and I have a CD with a parts manual but all the part numbers are not listed in my copies and after a good deal of research I'm not sure what I have listings for is correct. It does list some of the numbers, but also says "1.066 belt" for some of them and I don't have the resources to breakdown what part number it is associated with for that specific application. 1.066 refers to a specific group of belts from what I have found. I did find the same group listed for Oldsmobile online at the old car manual project website but those look to be different numbers within the same part group specific to Oldsmobile.

Please post/show/list the numbers if you have knowledge of them. What belts are correct? What belts would someone have found if you popped the hood on a 1970 Buick GS 455 base or Stage 1 at the dealership back in 1970?

You listed the correct numbers in your post except the Stage-1 alt belt I added. The assembly manual picture your show is not a Buick 455 diagram.
Here are some superseded numbers from 75 and later. You may have better luck finding these. They are what I am running. They are all non cogged
I have no AC but I added that one as well

    Alt 9433752= 50"
AC 1387172 ( for large AC pulley) 65"
PS 1355504 42 1/4" ( I do not think this one can be correct as it is too short).
The later superseded PS belt is 14076348 which is 51 1/4 inch. I use this one and it fits perfect.

    Hope this helps.

What style were the original belts for these cars? Were they cloth wrapped or cut edge? Did they have the numbers
screen printed on or embossed or ? Anyone have a pic of an original?

Numbers were embossed right into the belt. Check out one of the Pontiac or Chevy dealers that sell the repro belts they should show a picture of the style used. If you can find any of those expect to pay$%%$$$$$$$$$$$

    Like this?

Are the later ones with screen print like this also correct?

I don't care if the numbers are correct as long as it looks similar to an original and works right. If it's a Repro Chevy, Pontiac or ? belt that's fine with me.

Yes, embossed like the top pic. The 2nd pic belts are acceptable for judging as far as I know. That is what Dave has on his GSX. I think any non cogged V-belts are acceptable. You can just wipe the lettering off.

Original embossed belts are priced in the stratosphere if you can find them. There are surprisingly very few crossovers between GM makes. So the repros will not help. I did some checking and none of the numbers matched Buick that I could find

That's what I've found. Someone had mentioned Quanta....they do have some belts that are close in length to the smaller sizes, but they are too narrow and so may slip and their longest belt is 61".

Is there a newer non-cogged belt/part number that I could look for that might be more readily available?
