I’m skeptical. I spot several non original items and the front fender to door fit isn’t as good as it would’ve been when it left the factory.

That car is out on the island. You had better dress warm! It’s 18 degrees up here and the wind is cranking. -10 wind chill. I’m sure that the car will be inside a warm shop up on a lift for you to inspect. Tread lightly.

I have owned a body shop for the last 35 years. I know what I’m looking at on the body it is the original Buick parts that you guys are great at identifying. I am leaving at 3am Saturday morning any info up to that point would help.

Any tips on the drive would be helpful also like tolls and traffic. Leaving from Dayton Ohio.

No matter what GPS is telling you DO NOT travel through Manhattan to get to 495. Either take the George Washington Bridge and work your way to long Island through the Bronx or head south and take one of the bridges that will lead you through staten island to the Verrazano bridge.

If your driving a commercial vehicle (a truck or pulling a trailer) there are restrictions on certain NY roads that your not allowed on. Watch for signs that say "no commercial traffic". Most GPS units especially those not from the east coast are not programmed for this.

Also it's 32 degrees going up to 40 today with a mild wind and no negative temps, you shouldn't need long johns!

That is good to know! I don't mind the drive but I cant stand traffic.

Sorry to hear that because once you pass through the middle of New Jersey you're going to become very familiar with your brake pedal until about exit 57 on the Long Island expressway (495).

Another thing you should know, all tolls in NY have been converted to easy pass meaning there are no cash toll lanes. If you have your states version of ez pass it will probably be accepted however if not you will be billed for all NY tolls to the address of the vehicles registration with a service charge added to each toll. I'm sure in hindsight the toll takers union regrets supporting our current governor since they've all lost their jobs.

Sounds like a longer drive than I thought!

It all depends on the hours you will be traveling. If you come via Staten Island lets say by nine, the only thing that will cause traffic will be accidents. You will be on the safe side on the hours between 9 AM 3.PM,after that all hell is loose.Traffic here starts at 5 AM till 9AM and then from 3 PM to 7 pm.Bruno.

I hope you plan on doing this over the weekend and not coming here on a Friday which is our worst traffic day of the week. Heaven help you if you hit the NY metropolitan area after 2pm because rush hour starts then and runs to about 7pm. This is one of the most heavily populated areas in the country with roads designed in the 20's and 30's. It's a non stop parking lot. I had some friends from Texas come to visit and while driving around on their own asked me if anyone on Long Island worked? He said it looks like all we do all day is drive around because the roads are always so crowded.
