That car is awesome! Exactly how I want to get mine......slowly getting there....very....slowly. Mine will be the white twin of yours!
WOW. Your car looks great and I have to agree with others the cup holder idea is awesome. I am surprised to say I like the seats they look better than I expected. Nice job !! I Think where the wood grain is on the console and the dash it would be kinda cool to do a carbon fiber look to blend in with the int. but thats just being nit picky and I think it looks great as is. I also say your paint and body work looks fantastic. You really did a nice job on this car. Thanks for the pictures and information.
Thanks for the compliments. Ben, glad you like it. I will stay tuned for more on your car as it evolves. Ryan, I kinda like the idea of the carbon fiber look vs the wood grain. Wish I thought of that earlier! Here is a full sideview pic....
Posted a video of idling with TA212 cam, 2.5" pipes, Dynomax Super Turbos, no crossover. For some reason the sound cuts off 3/4 of the way through. Link to video:
I've had a few folks interested in how to install 2004-2006 GTO seats into an A-body. The "1BADGTO" website is no longer up, but I did find Tom Vianni's photobucket page where he documents the steps. This is what I used and it worked well for me..... http://s975.photobucket.com/user/zxxv111/library/?sort=6&page=1
Thanks for that. It was real informative. Hey, I'm gonna be moving back to the dallas area, hope I can see your car in person sometime. James
The cost for me is not really comparable. I got a good deal from my friend who did it. But I think to have a car taken to bare metal and repaired and painted, barring no major metal work, anything under $9,000 would be a good deal depending on what part of the country you live in.
Minor change recently on wheels. For the front, the 255/45/18s were very close to working out, but I could not get the frequent rubbing on the inner fender stopped. Looks like to get good castor adjustment the wheels were toward the back a bit more and rubbed during turns, hitting bumps etc. So I bit the bullet and went with 255/45/17s and the problem is solved. I could have gone a cheaper way (not having to buy new wheels) with a lower profile 18" tire but I really want to keep some decent sidewall tires because it looks better. Here is a pic with the 18s still on back but with 17s on front.
Today I installed 3" lowering springs in the rear. Front is already lowered about 1.5" from stock. The net was about 2" lower in the rear since the original rear springs were a bit tired. Result is frame is parallel to the ground front to back. I have 295/45/18 tires on the rear with a 28" diameter, so it needed that much to even out. The top of the rear wheel is just about even with the top of the fender well. Not having the rear raised may stop folks from mistaking it as a Chevelle haha! I think it handles great and the ride is really smooth, no rough jolts that others have complained about with a 3" drop. Ordered the springs from Speedway, they sent me CPP springs! Good deal for $95 bucks.
SWEET!!!! Im a fan of the old school look, I usually like the rear raked but I gotta say I love the stance on yours.
Dean, Your car looks great:TU:. Do you plan to put the wheel well trip on ? It looks good without it. You don't see Buicks without it normally.
I'm going to leave it off. I want a clean look, plus these cars look heavy with all the trim that comes on them.
I put the 2004-2006 GTO bucket seats in my 1965 Skylark and I love them. I tried the 255/45/17's on the front on my car but I missed the amount of backspace I needed. So I dropped down to the 245/45/17 Nitto 555s. Very nice looking car you have. I love it.
