For what your getting that's a very fair price,...I mean there was only 2 real deal stage 2 cars and this is one

I didn't think this blue car was one of the 2 factory built stage 2 cars. I thought the two factory cars were this red one at Mecum and the white owned by a board member here. I thought this blue car was a factory stage1 car.

I do believe it had factory stage 2 heads and components installed at a dealership when fairly new.

At this point you might want to think about taking the automatic out and putting the four-speed back in I doubt it will ever see any track time again.

The red "light my fire" Jones Benisek car was originally a Stage 1 4speed test car that ran the 13.38,..then became a test bed car for the stage 2 stuff,..Guys "Reynolds" car and the white test mule GSX were the only two true factory assembled cars,...or at least that's my recollection,...imo it's no more of a legit stage 2 car than the Coyote car, they both started life as the same thing.

I should have worded my previous statement about it "being one" differently I reckon

The history associated with Pat's car is so damn cool,..it was a racer from day one, was a mainstay at the Nationals when Turner owned it,..and now back to its former glory is so cool that is survived

Just to clarify . The factory built ONE Stage 2 test car . The White GSX clone that was dissassembled after testing . The Reynolds car , the JB car and Coyote all left the assembly line as Stage 1 cars and were converted to Stage 2 cars .

Drag cars don't command the money most people think they do. Locally there was a factory built / sponsored day one Hemi Cuda for sale for $ 60,000. Although cars like that are cool , they weren't meant to be street driven. Probably best to be in a museum for the history of the sport and not to be tucked away in someone's garage never to see the light of day.

And I always thought that Buick should have had TWO cars on the original 50 Fastest Muscle Cars list. The auto at 13.38 and the 4 speed at 13.79.

To be fair MOPAR had some stock runs not counted on the list that were in the 12s.

Several magazine tests were not listed the Motor Trend top 50. Many used Polyglass tires which were factory issued:

March 66, Super Stock and Drag Illustrated ("SS/DI"): Ronnie Sox drove a new 66 Hemi/4spd Satellite to a 13.15 at 108 mph. Car was driven to PA from Detroit and solids were adjusted and jetting checked. Rear spring was clamped with U bolt to prevent windup.

SS/DI tested a 69 Hemi Road Runner and ran 13.3.

    SS/DI 69 issue with Sox driving ran 12.95 in a 440 6 bbl - 4 speed Road Runner.

69 Cars Magazine tested a 440 6 pack road runner 4 spd and ran 13.18 at 107 mph. Test in Cars 69 issue and also 1991 issue of Factory Musclecars Road Tests Magazine which was a reprint of Old Cars Magazine Tests. In this issue they tested a 69 GTX vs Hemi Road Runner. GTX ran 13.91 at 102 mph and Hemi ran 13.32 at 107 mph. The GTX had AC and No AC for the road runner. Same issue has a 69 428 CJ Mustang test. 13.60 at 106 mph.

Same issue has a test of 71 429 CJ/auto Cobra Torino which ran 13.7 at 106 mph and Cars said it was probably the fastest 71 new car they had tested at that point.

They also had a shootout of 62 413 Max Wedge vs 327 fuelie 63 Vette. The Dodge easily beat the Vette with a 12.7 at 108 mph. (I do not recall the tires used)
