ou: wifeey looked at the hood scoop last night and asked me when the rest of the car is getting painted? I popped off without hesitation and said NEVER! It is supposed to look like a blue POS that blew the doors off the nice looking car... I think she would divorce me if I paid to have the car painted or spent another penny on it otherwise....:Smarty: That hood does look pretty faded....:Brow:
5/26/2016 Update Charging issue resolved: Alt tested fine so traced down field wire to regulator had broken loose. ou: She's cranking out the juice now.
I am f'ng Jonesing to hit a track...I have about 100 miles on it...hit WOT a few times... The soonest track looked like an option is June 10-12, Bremerton Test and Tune.... Totally blows but July 9 -11 weekend at Bremerton is the target...I plan to play hookie from work and maybe if I talk real nice to Dean he may head over if in town... I want to rally all you meatheads for that weekend. Are you around?
Tangled with a new Tesla on the Island today while on a proof run. He was ahead of me going down the highway and he slowed way down to get us to the next signal with me behind him and nobody ahead of him...the light turned green and he nailed it so I dumped it and had to pedal to not rear end him dropped again and again at which point he realized he couldn't get away or out of the way for me to pass....
Nice! Some of those Teslas are hella quick! I loves me some internal combustion (when it works anyway....long day), but gotta hand it to them, Teslas are pretty b.a. Not as b.a. as a Buick in this instance though!!
good. I know Dave K needs to get old Blue out and Ken has a runner...and some other guys around here... I am going to start some noise to muster the iron for that weekend at B-Town and have a big boys play date:laugh:
Door panels got the needed attention. Backer board and vinyl was wasted below armrest level mostly at the front, both panels had old speaker holes. Not bad for original door panels.. I had a set of TPP lower door panel carpet kit and a pair of door panel donor backer boards that were new barely used. A couple hours, some measuring, surgical cuts , thoughtful splices, gaffing tape and 3M 777glue...some prep and paint on the arm rest bases, and new bunting over the original OEM foam armrest pads give them some relaxing cushin, and recovered with some black vinyl for now...I didn't have correct dye for the vinyl but does accent the black bench,,, I plan to have some SEM color matched so I can refresh all the original interior panel vinyl... before... after...
Very nice job! Looks professional. Where did you get the carpet material? Everything I've seen is too heavy to use there. What did you use on the lower perimeter of the carpet?
The lower carpet comes from The Parts Place (TPP) and they come with the lower edge vinyl already sewn on. They come plenty tall to hide really messed up door panels, just trim top to fit as needed. I didn't bead the top with vinyl which would be correct and mo betta but likely a short term job which looks good for now... I ordered new arm rest pads from TPP, in correct light blue color and some correct color blue piss cans paint so I plan to freshen up the front and rear finishes on the panel vinyl for the time being. Still no plan to replace the front bench yet...contemplating the options which include recover or replace with some race bucket seats...
so...I've loved this thread and the build, but aren't 16's a bit, well, keeping the bar low? back of the napkin calculations put a 4000lb car with 600hp (500ish pls NOS) down the track in just barely into the 10's. My buddy's '70 Super Bee with a kinda stock 440 and street slicks ran 12's...and it wasn't putting out close to 500hp. oooo....this is a long con sandbagging for anyone keeping track of your car for future racing? <wink> I do love that fact that the bench seat is intact...I wish my wife drove stick, cuz I love the look of floor shifter and bench seat. excited to see what you run. steve 1969 Buick Special Deluxe (400-4/th400)
yes...my wifee hates the BUICK but Loves the stick:laugh: regardless who is driving, but she prefers when I am driving.:Brow: Now let's get back to the regular broadcast please.
Some, like my Son's ex, will take every opportunity to drive a stick, no matter who owns the vehicle. At least she wasn't shiftless......... 4-speeds with bench seats seem to get more attention at cruise-ins than those with buckets. Now a 4-speed in any 4dr. car will get a lot of notice.
