1970 Buick Stage1 4 speed. Asking $64,500, OBO. Numbers matching, Sloan Documented, Build sheet. 57,xxx original miles. Rare low option, base interior. I will consider 70-71 GS 455 A/C convertible, or interesting muscle car as a partial trade.

I had a love for these cars ever since my father, who was a Superintendent in the factory were these were made, brought home some postcards from the administration building in late 1969. I remember that post card even today. Although the car on the card was a triple brown car, I thought it was the neatest Buick I had ever seen. Fast forward to early 2006. I had wanted to purchase a four speed stage car before retiring from Buick where I worked for over 33 years. After looking for many months, and finding any worthy cars. I found 2 in late 2006. I went back and forth on both cars, before purchasing this one from Fred Englehart in October of 2006. Duane Heckman once owned this car and decoded it, noting all important part numbers and dates. He also restored the car. From Duane, it went to Iowa, then to Virginia, then to Minnesota where it change hands several times without being registered. It was at this point I purchased the car. After showing the car locally, I decided, I didn't enjoy doing that. Sitting by the car and most of the time listing to all the "experts" telling me stories about how they had one just like it, kinda took the fun of it out of it for me. In 2008 I attended a Pure Stock Race in Martin Michigan, I was hooked. I decide I would like to race a Buick. After a small search I found the right car. A 1970 Stratomist blue Stage 1 automatic. I built an engine with the help of Dave Hemker and raced i for several years. I absolutely loved the hands on aspect of racing, and the challenge of getting the car to go faster. A couple of years ago my son was sent over seas and left his cars here for me to store. My garage was packed, I had no room to work. Getting frustrated with no room to work, I decided to sell one of my cars to free up space. The race car sold first. It went to collector in Illinois. After the first race this year in Martin, and having to sit on the side lines, not participating, I realized I had sold the wrong car. The individual that purchased my Stratomist car had a change of mind and decided he didn't want to go racing. He has offered the car back to me. I would like very much to get it back. Thus the reason for trying to sell this car at this time. There are no problems with the car....I would just like to repurchase the Stratomist car. Call with any questions, 810-577-8147. Thanks Jim

Beautiful automobile! Good luck with the sale. On an aside, be careful in any future dealings with Fred Englehart, Elkton MN. Convicted of wire fraud as it relates to selling classic cars.

  7. in my humble opinion it just doesn't get any better than this car. awesome color, just the right options(nearly none) absolutely fabulous car.

I'm aware of Fred's past problems, and familiar with the case against him. I have had dealings with Fred since his release. He has treated me well, and has been nothing but honest with me. I know one of the guys that had problems with him in the past. This individual has dealt with him even after his problems with him. I would have no problems dealing with him in the future, and wish him nothing but the best.

    Jim,

Have you considered a video recorded ride along?

I'd give my left arm for that car. Seriously.

    Good luck with the sale!

Thanks Bob, I realize this is not the best place to sell a Buick, as most people here already have a nice Buick in their garage.
