Even if a guy wasn't going to keep the car, it's a good place to get a 455 and auto. You could drive around to make sure it's mechanically good before swapping into your small block powered car....that's how I look at stuff like this. I actually did exactly that with a '76 LTD wagon. Had a perfect running 460/C6/9" rear. I drove it for a couple months, car ran perfect, so I pulled and swapped the whole drivetrain into my '71 Ranchero.
Well I drove it home today. 850 miles with the only issue being a carb in sore need of a rebuild. The car is a mess but will give me the parts I need to get my other Estate back together. It also has lots of goodies to be added to the other wagon. Tilt, cruise, deluxe interior, power everything and a limited slip rear. Don't know the ratio yet, but the oversized A/C pully is in place. This could get interesting.
i dont know where your located........but i could use the hood if you are not using it just throwing it out there scott
Do you come to the GS Nationals? And if so could the hood be transported? Last year my fan broke off the water pump at 6000 rpm..... During the nats Lost my hood among other things(hood now has a bulge and big hole in it Thanks scott
