Has anyone bought one of these from Classic Buicks or other vendor? The one CB sent me is completely wrong. I also bought one for the 71 455 and it was correct. The one I got for the 350 was really odd. It was not really in the same format as the other one, and it has the wrong vac line routing picture in it. This is one of the most important VISUAL parts of the engine compartment, and I want to put a CORRECT emissions decal on my car.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I'll post pictures later...I'm on my way out the door.

    Adam,
I made up some 71 350 emission decals for my old 71 350 GSX. It was a very late car and came with the "electronic plunger" (late 71-72 style) verses the dashpot. It also came with a seperate decal for the "electronic plunger" assembly for an automatic. If you post some pictures I may be able to help you.

Mine still has the dashpot...and the old sticker looked exactly like the 455 one shown above in the picture, except with the 350-4 notation.

    Adam,
Can't help you with that one. BUT, if you are good with editing you could cut & paste and make your own. That's how I did mine, then took the picture/negative, and had a printer friend of mine "burn" one on a steel plate so I could make one for my car.

Adam, I'll second that the lower 350 sticker isn't right for a '71 350...should have the vacuum lines routed to a temp-switch in the intake like in the 455 pic.

Maybe for a California emissions car?

Mine too has the 2V diagram on a 4V sticker. Via Y-1, not sure who they buy from.
Should anyone have the ability & desire to make correct stickers put me first in line!

I really wish Osborn's website had pics of their stickers. :spank:

    Adam,

Not to hijack your thread but I'm in the same boat with these air cleaner stickers. (see below)

My girlfriend has some SERIOUS Photoshop skills and is very diligent when it comes to "getting things right". She's currently working on this sticker for me and I'll post it when she's done....

I guess what I'm trying to say is, with all the technology available today, someone with even minimal graphic design skills, through Photoshop, can probably do a (close to) dead-on repro of the decals we need...

I should also mention that I contacted Classic Buick last week regarding the sticker I posted above....they did reply but could NOT produce pictures of the decals on their site...

    Are you kidding me??? :puzzled:

Brett, I will make my own if Osborn doesn't come through with a correct one. I also emailed classic buicks about the decal, and he said they have never had a complaint, and do not have another like I described. Their 71-72 full size hood insulation is wrong, too. I told him about that, and he said he'd look into it. The correct insulation is precut, not sheet-form. So I have to cut my own insulation from the big sheet they sent me.

It's nice to pay for stuff and then have to alter it to fit, isn't it?

Sometimes we're better off trying to recycle what we already have....

Brett, I have been saying that for years.

    Ditto.

In the case of the air cleaner base decal above, I personally would rather see that well-worn original than a perfect specimen, which is obviously a reproduction.

    Brian,

I agree...in fact, that sticker is from my car's original air cleaner (pictured below) which I fully intend on leaving as it is. However, I have 2 restored dual snorkel air cleaners here that are going to need new decals....

I went through this too. (It turned out, all for naught...)
I needed a decal for my non-Stage 70 GS 455. All Y1 showed was Stage 1, so I bought that, and "recreated" it in Word Perfect, matching the fonts and sizes, and scanned the vacuum diagram, which I knew was the same. Printed the finished product on photo paper (for a little gloss, whic I "think" is correct) and glued it to my radiator cover. Went to the next GS Nats and bunches of folks had non-Stage decals that looked nothing like mine. Came from Jim Osborne; Y1 just doesn't bother to carry it.....
