My brother met and spoke with a fellow in the Redington Shores area of Fla who is the original owner of the above mentioned car. It had a nut & bolt restoration a few years ago. Colour is green and I think the interior is white as is the top. Not sure if the seats are special-order buckets. My bro states that the car is spectacular. Seldom driven, with less than 400 miles since resto. Anyone know this car? I know somewhere on this site someone had a count of the number of these vehicles produced. Can someone inform me as to how many cars like this built for 1971? tkx.
I thought there was one SCO car? No? Also, once I saw one once that had stripes and spoilers supposedly added by dealer before delivery. Had to cut down spoiler ends.
I'm not an expert by any means, so I could be wrong, but I've always heard there wasn't any. I'm wrong a lot though. Just ask the female..... Hopefully I'll learn something from this thread.
My understand is that Flint-only GS convertibles built January 4, 1971 on could order front spoiler and/or hood tach, but no other GSX parts...
If its a real car, it would be 1 of 9. Didn't even have to look that one up. But being so rare, you would need rock solid documentation it is what it is
Such a car with factory day two additions such as the spoilers and stuff would be super cool tho, and if documented a very valuable ride for sure
I live 8 miles from Redington Shores and have never seen it. What does the question become? If it's a GS Stage 1 conv with GSX appearance package and it's real nice what's it worth? It's either worth the asking price or it's not.
Be advised that the rear spoiler is a hard top only piece. Buick never installed them on convertibles. It would have to be owner installed
1 of 9 Stage 1 4 speed convertibles. With only 9 made, and with the availability of colors and options, its likely no 2 were made the same. Its even possible no two were painted the same color. I bought one of them for $1k in 2003. Long story. Factory black with a pearl white interior
There's still no concrete evidence that the Verde mist GSX that Dwayne Hicks owns is a factory GSX. But to the point, the angle of the spoiler didn't match the angle of the convertible quarter. So a factory install is unlikely. You would need some good proof it was factory installed. Back then, dealers did all kinds of stuff to satisfy customers. They dealer added all kinds of stuff. So who knows, maybe the dealer put it on. Or maybe someone added it in 1975. Who knows. Its all speculations without docs
Also, the convertibles were not NORMALLY available with bucket seats in 1971 and 1972. There ARE documented cases of bucket seat from the factory cars but they were all SCO cars, and reflect that on the cowl tag... Also as stated by others, the dealers wood swap stuff to get a sale, factory or not. Not to mention 45 years plus since then. And the unfortunate fact of all the lost documentation/ files for the 1971 model year, and the non-specific VIN for , you guessed it, the 1971 model year...
