What does it need? Is it to stand original again?

Called the Gateway Classic, the car is original hard top converted to convertible by Movie Cinema in Southern California. The current owners has done about 13K in work rebuilding engine and replacing suspension components. Not too sure about that price though.

A convertible with a boxed frame has enough flex as it is. A convertible on a hardtop frame is a wet noodle.

Why not start with a skylark convertible ?
If it was a movie car maybe it wasn't built for street use.

If they put any more greasy interior goo on the seats and interior you could probably fry bacon in there...
Standard operating procedure for these classic car flippers.

Update The seller is willing to accept an offer of 20K is it worth it?

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

That'd be something only you can answer as a potential buyer, but I wouldn't give it a dime until I had inspected it in person and driven it myself. It's not like there's a guideline for pricing a 1971 Skylark hardtop that's been converted to a "GSX" convertible....If it's really nice, drives well, and the frame has been properly modified, I'd say "why not?" If it's a rattle trap, flexi-flyer, stock frame, poor running, rusty bondo queen pile, then "no".
