After 7 years or so I finally (almost) finished the Mn. junkyard dog that I bought from French Lake Auto Parts (FLAP) I purchased this car for the frame to use for a rusty 72 GS that I was going to restore. Once I started to disassemble the 1971 skylark I came to my senses and abandoned the GS before it got sandblasted. I remained somewhat open minded from the start as to what I was going to do and because so much time passed and new products became available I upgraded my upgrades with new upgrades a few times..(please don't tell the wife). I would really like to thank the many people on this board for all the advice, parts, tips, pictures, and for answering many a dumb question as the years passed by. Special thanks to JW at Tri Shield for supplying a great heart, the car runs, drives and sounds great. The car came with a clean title and was an AZ car its entire life but after disassembling the vent system and finding various cough, cough, drug parifanalia and the odd bullet holes so it had a sketchy life I'm sure. So here is a pic of the finished product, and as it turns out this car has come full circle and is once again residing in Phoenix, Arizona where me and it hope to retire. I did post some pictures and listed some of the products that went into this in the Pro-touring section. For many of us that aren't builders these things can be an emotional rollercoaster and sometimes suck the life out of you especially when things don't go well, parts don't fit and family needs you. I always tried to stay motivated by imagining being behind the wheel one day, wife in the passenger seat on a smooth piece of pavement on a sunny day somewhere. Thanks again to everyone that contributed. Gord ps. I don't like the exhaust outlets and will be changing them out..a chevy guy did the tailpipes
Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one that's dealt with this! Boy, isn't that the truth. But congrats, you obviously succeeded! That's a very very sharp looking piece.
few more pics, yes will be going to Pavillions sometime this winter...a few times for sure. Totally stock GS bucket interior with 4 speed console. heres what we started with, as I mentioned I purchased it for the frame and that was that. I cant remember the tire sizes but the same size as what comes on the supercharged Cadillac car 255 front and 295 rears I think?
Where did you find that car. They are getting harder to come by. There was a guy outside of Ottawa with a stock pile of parts and a few nice buicks.
Nice job......I was considering doing the exact same color combo on my '72 (black with flat black and red GSX stripes) but it looks like you beat me to it. ou: I may still do it. I think it looks great!:TU:
Car came from Arizona via a scrap yard in Minnesota to Ontario then back to arizona, when I imported the car to canada with a blown engine, no bumpers and no interior I had to pay the air conditioning tax at the Canadian side, good old Ontario tax system:af: Once you see a dry climate car , and they are out there you will never want to see rust again. Ps, my wife picked the paint scheme, flat red stripes with Matt black and a Matt clear coat to protect the Matt black, painted the mirrors, window stainless and drip moulding Matt as well. It's all good! Gord
