72 Buick conv GS door armrests, mine are covered with black vinyl, question is, should the armrest be covered?
My '72 GS 2dr ht - the armrest is plastic. There is a pad that is covered in a thin black vinyl and is attached to the armrest.
took my arm rest base and pad off, the pad is a metal frame, some stiff foam, with a vinyl material wrap over it all. the replacements i have found, seem to be a one solid piece of plastic.
Yes, that is typical for the repro pieces. They are also usually too tall compared to the original factory pads. One solution is to re-cover the pads with new vinyl using your old foam pad and underside metal plate.
