As mentioned above the the curved down style there are two variations even though they have the same part number. On one the bottom inside of the chrome extends right to the very outer ends (early), the second style only goes about 1/3 of the way out from center and then stops (late). This leaves a rather unsightly edge right there in plain view when the hood is open, but is also much lighter. There are also two styles of headlight bezels for 72, again with the same part number, the early ones are quite thin and light, the later ones are thicker across the top and have more bracing. The change over seems to be around mid Nov 1971 (from 12 different cars researched), and interestingly it appears that they went with the lighter hood moldings when they swapped over to the heavier bezels. The lighter bezels tended to crack on the inside edge (later ones have more metal in this area), the heavier hood moldings tended to crack in the middle top (which would seem to be why they made the outer edges lighter in the later versions to take some stress away perhaps?). So early cars = light bezels/heavy molding and later cars would have heavier bezels/lighter moldings. Now if someone would just 3D print this stuff....LOL

Okay I think I understand, the thin head light bezels are early design and the hood molding with the under side lip that extends the the full length is early?
