Did all the GSX 455 Stage One's come with chrome valve covers?

Easiest way to document a 72 is to look at the 5th digit in the vin. It should be a V for a factory stage 1 car. Anyone could have swapped valve covers

The motor has been built to Stage ones spec's It is in a 1972 GTX clone. The motor came out of a 1970 GTX.THE 1970 CASTING 1231718 455 ENGINE FROM A REAL GSX IS FULLY BUILT TOBUICK STAGE 1 SPECIFICATION BUICK HP HEADS AND INCLUDES A ROLLER VALVE TRAIN PRODUCING OVER 420 HP AND FAR OVER 500 LBS. Is what I am being told BS?

I would be very skeptical. Any 455 can be built to stage 1 specs. There is a 99.9% chance it didn’t come out of a “GTX(GSX?)” since 678 were built from the factory, a handful being stage 1 cars. You would also not be able to authenticate that, nor should it matter because the car it currently is in is not the same GSX. Any mild build 455 should produce 420hp, 500+ tq if done right.

Do you have a link to the car/motor? If someone wrote GTX in an ad multiple times, they probably don’t know Buick’s and I would be skeptical taking any of their info at face value.

I am the one that typed GTX. My mistake. My Dad had a GTX when I was younger. I keep typing GTX in stead of GSX. Still going to be a nice car when I am finished. Picking it up Thursday to start. Adding replica wheels with redlines, front spoiler, GSX striping.

Now that description sounds like a good car- the only inaccuracy I see is Buick designated their through exhaust bumpers as code N-25, not N66. It was an option available on any 71-72 Gran Sport. Sounds like a fun car that is most of the way there. Stick around here you will get plenty of help!
