    Phil,
Tell Mike B the distributor number doesn't match either! The AC compressor and hoses are from an Olds!:Do No: I'll stop there:rant:

Gee John, so sorry to piss you off. Did I say they did? I don't recall that at all. As a matter of fact, I don't ever remember even checking the numbers on the carb or the distributor when I owned that car, it didn't matter to me at the time. And you knew it wasn't the original A/C compressor, remember when I gave you the ORIGINAL one with the car? Oh, and I really am not too concerned with your  being that you were the one who tried to convince me that my car didn't have original panels and had the 1/4's replaced, etc. All in an attempt to beat me down in price from an already low, and already agreed upon price between the buyer and I...not you. The fact you would even bring this stuff up...shady, shady way to do business. I am surprised Phil stooped to your level and brought you with him, let alone had you work on that car. Ask Phil or anyone else what I told them I should have said to you that day, you're just lucky I am as polite as I am.

Mike as I remember your were plain nasty to John and I let it go:Do No: Yes you did give me the original A/C that I believe a previous owner gave you at BG in 05. (It was sitting under his backyard deck!) I do not recall anything said about the quarters. When you bought this car and posted your threads and all that you prided yourdelf on only buying a true #'s car. Thankfully the major stuff is good, and the other stuff can be bought! I think you owe John Csordas a really big apology!! John has forgotten more about cars than you will ever know. John is a true friend and a superb mechanic! Chill Mike that was totally uncalled for. John was just stating the facts. Thank you have a nice day.

WHAT? You have GOT to be kidding me! The guy comes in as your hired goon and starts picking my car apart! You KNOW this is what happened and you even had to tell him that you didn't have a problem paying the already agreed upon (and very fair) price for it! To me, at that time, numbers-matching meant motor and trans...VIN specific stuff, other items can be replaced, and I don't seem to recall that EVER being an issue, until now, THREE YEARS LATER.

You mean to tell me you don't remember him poking around inside my trunk telling me that the 1/4's had been "worked on" when in fact, they had never been? You, sir, have selective memory...I may have have been short with him, but it was only AFTER he started picking my car apart and then, in turn, you two discussing it and offering me less money for it. I don't go for that stuff, a deals a deal, and if you remember right, you said, and I quote, "I know that car better than you do, inside and out, I spent hours going over that car when you were out parts shopping at the GS Nats last year". Do you remember telling me that Phil?

Put yourself in my place...we make a deal on a car, a very fair deal, and then I bring some guy with me when I pick it up and he starts telling you what's wrong with your car, in an attempt to get you to lower your price...how would you react?

This was nothing to do with you Phil, I tried to leave you out of it and didn't harbor any resentment toward you. But first impressions are everything and that guy John sure failed to impress me. I will not bow, nor will I apologize, he needs to apologize to ME as HE was in the wrong, not me. And Phil, just how much are you paying this guy anyway who is now bitching about things that A) you already knew about and B) if he was such an expert...shouldn't he have noticed them when he was doing your "inspection" for you?

Even though this deal is absolutely none of my business...I don't care what ANYONE says..Besides me, there are about 5 people who I would entrust to ever touch my cars. John Csordas is one of the very extremely few I would allow to work on my car. John is a super wealth of honesty, knows perhaps more than 85% or more than most on here about working on cars and is a very good person indeed. To see someone slam him for being totally honest is disgusting. I know of some of the details about this 73. The part that bugs me is I have seen in other threads where you criticize Phil for having money. Phil happens to be another good guy, well liked by many. I feel that if you,Mike felt he was lowballing you,you should have just walked away and kept the 73 and so be it. Your statement that the car was numbers match and things that weren't could be purchased sits a little ill with me. Being this car is indeed a Stage 1 4 speed, and the fact that ONLY 149 455 cars were produced,it would seem a very difficult task to replace the "numbers matching" carburertor. I feel that Phil has the right to bring along someone who has knowledge of these cars and give an unbiased opinion. If you didn't like the way it was heading, refuse the offer and walk away. Mike, you had a similar incident with the silver car as well. When people started telling the problems(much like John C) you were resentful. Then changed your tune when you realized there were more problems with it. I am not saying that your cars were not worth the money, but you have to understand when there is a bigger cash outlay, questions must be asked. Phil has also told me that you never turned the paperwork over to him for this car as well as the picture I supplied as well as the letter that the prior owner wrote me in the early 90's. You told me that it would indeed go with the car as that was the deal with me sending it to you. I would appreciate it as well as Phil would, if you'd either return the picture and letter to me or send it to Phil. A deal is a deal...Right?? I think this name calling and arrogance on this thread went far enough. Time to do the right thing and then move on..

Thanks Pat. Mike I have no problem with you I wanted that car the same time as you on ebay and I let you buy it. I wanted the car and I bought it thru 1 phone call/e-mail from you no questions asked. When I came I brought John to tell me the truth about the car and to help me. ( I trust John 100% and the car was mine anways at that point-When I give my word it means something to me!) You remember I told John whatever needs to be done we will do. There is no reason to bad mouth anyone as I am not bad mouthing you. This is over and I will see you at BPG! Any Documents you have would be nice I am very happy with the car and can't wait to drive it now with the rebuilt motor, refreshed trans, and the frame forward resto. (Thanks John) Will post pics next week.

    Pat,
This is the kind of thing I have a problem with:

"Mike I have no problem with you I wanted that car the same time as you on ebay and I let you buy it."

...thanks Phil, for "allowing" me to buy the car. Keep in mind I had no idea who you even were when I bought that car back in '03 or whenever, if I recall correctly, I hit the "buy it now" on eBay, but again, thanks for "letting" me do that!

...and Pat, please don't criticize me for making a comment about Phil being "Mr. Money Bags". It was meant as a joke, but if you recall, that was because he made the statement (right here on this forum) that he "would give me $10,000 for my 1970 Stage 1" and that I "knew he had the money" to buy it. Now come on...I have always liked Phil, since the first day I met him, but the pompous comments are really not impressive. More power to him, I am glad he is so wealthy...and I wish that for everyone, but in the end, you can't take it with you and quite frankly, I am really tired of hearing about how much money he has.

...and this had better be the last time anyone accuse me of telling Phil one single thing about that car that wasn't true. The only thing I knew, told him, or even cared about was that my car had a matching-numbers motor and transmission. PERIOD! I don't care if that "sits a little ill" with you or not. And unless you were there and experienced what I did with John Csordas that day, I would keep your guesswork and opinions to yourself.

Thanks, I am DONE with this.

    THE END!!!

    Mike,
One last comment and then we can put this to bed. You asked me my opinion on the car and I said it was nice but Phil just bought his 73 Suncoupe for $7500 and it puts this car to shame for half the price! You do remember that? That's when you got alittle annoyed with me and said I don't care what he paid we have a deal on my car!
Phil was buying the car no matter what and he is one of the most generous people I know. He was not trying to knock the price down one penny but I would have if I was buying it! I told him you will not find another high optioned car like this and you will be known as Mr. 73 when you buy this one. He is very happy with the car as with his other 4 73's.
Mike enjoy the Easter Hoilday and and when we are out at the BPG Nats we will have a good laugh about the whole thing.

Wow if they actually sell the car for over 20K, there may be hope for a bid higher than 10K on my 74. I challenged the bidder to go find another 74 for 10K and let me know when he does.

Looks like I drive my 74 for another summer, shucks. Once again if anyone here want's a real nice 74 for a reasonable price call me.

My top bid on E-bay for this car was 10K, I passed on the bid for obvious reasons.

Mike I should not post anymore on this topic. Yes we met at BG 05 I told you the story and many others. Schmidt Co. St Louis on ebay when you got the car was because that is when I was noton a board or Buick club guy and I did not know John. The guy at Schmidt told me whoever sends the money first gets it. ((I let it go and did not know it went to you till BG 05) I was bad humor but a NE thing offering you 10K but it was a joke. I dont say I am better than anyone else I do not look in anyonesw pockets I treat everyone with respect. There are quite a few people on thi board that can buy and sell. Why do you think I like 73's? I am happy I did not buy the car from ebay because i would not have been crazy and bought the Black 4 speed (Morrisson car) sight unseen still not a member (cause I saw a 73 4 speed and:Do No: ) Then I got the Suncoupe thru ebay called john and the rest is history. I bought your car and on the way home John and I found my 73 racer! (Thanks Joy and Paine again) Good karma in all. Thats my whole Buick history in the last few years Lets all make nice and end this. See you at BPG

Okay, fair enough, apologies accepted and let's move on. I apologize if I misconstrued your humor, but I had no reason to make me think otherwise and no indicators that you were joking aound.

As far as John goes, I am sure, as your hired gun, he was trying to get the best deal for you...and that's what you pay him for, so I understand. No hard feelings John...but Phil got a good deal on the rarest '73 Stage1 4-speed car on the planet, and in many ways I regret selling it, except for the fact that if I hadn't, I would not have been able to buy my dream car (which is much more rare...and faster!:TU: ). And just to reiterate, I would have never sold that car for even one red cent less than you paid for it and would gladly buy it back anytime if you are ever unhappy with it.

As always, I'll look forward to seeing you at the next show.

    Mike

I do not regret buying the car. I am glad you accept "our " apologies to each other. John is not a hired gun but a trusted friend who was looking out for a newbie. Anyway very happy you got your dream car! (Nice avatar) Was that a challenge? Want to race? :3gears: Maybe we can get some Mag time your 72 4 speed 6 pack is that the car? vs your old 73 4 speed GS!! :3gears: That would be fun!! Mike Happy Easter. See you at BPG!!

Did you check on the right front of the engine where the A/C bracket would normally mount? I am sure you did. That's where I have seen the VIN.
