OK, I found me a 76 Free Spirit. Selling my 77 I was going to clone. Local guy wants it for 8k but he plans to gut the back, and fill it will subwoofers. Would rather have a real "Buick" person to have it. I would drive it anywhere without the slightest hesitation. Could even deliver if you are in the L.A. Area. Will upload more pictures if anyone is interested. It is a Calif. car so has a chevy 350. around 60K on it will check. Runs great and drove it on several 700+ road trips since I got it. Dash has no cracks n top. There are a couple of drops of oil on my drive but not enough to concern me. Had the best starter put on it when the nose broke off the old one. Mech said it looks like I need new valve cover gaskets. Only a couple drops on the driveway so was waiting until I needed to do other work to mess with it. All the details I would want to know: (nitpicking) There is a little wiper rash on the passenger side. A/C is not freezing but keeps it cool & comfortable even in 100 degree temps. Can't recall how cold my old 76 century was so it might be normal. Wiper switch doesn't mist on down push but both speeds work. Doesn't turn off turn signal. bought the new piece but haven't installed it. (comes with car) Center armrest is a little crooked. Front springs need replacing. Could probably use the carb rebuilt. It bogged a little on standstill acceleration but after some miles it is fine. Not perfect but no worries. Think it is an Edelbrock 1901. Back fiberglass filler panels come with the car. Was going to repaint the car in next month or two and left them off to paint first. Chrome wheel arches are not perfect. (Will list more if I think of anything) What I have done: Car is wired for an amp in the trunk and JL Audio bluetooth device under the dash. Still the stock AM radio. Rear deck is set up for two 6x9s. They don't come with the car. Son Bought me an expensive pair of Hertz highend model. I will leave them there for replacement value. (499.00) New Springs installed on the back with 2in lift pad, removable, to fit the 295x50x15s under it. 235x60x15s on front. Outlaw 2 Mags. (tires, rims and caps can come with the car if you don't want the mags) Once I raised the back the passenger side dipped. New starter. It broke on road trip to Denver one block from pepboys so had them replace it. Removed the black vinyl top to paint without it. Was going to install my Pace car Stainless on it. Have not removed any of the tabs for the trim because I didn't know if they were in the right place. Negotiable Extras! I have a stainless strip off my old Free Spirit. Has a slight bend it in that I think can be fixed. Have 2 black buckets and top of the back seat that has been stored in my closet for 30 yrs. Also, have all the pieces for the rear spoiler. Bought it to turn into a Free Spirit clone using my old parts. Have never gone WOT with it. Just cruised it around collecting thumbs up from those passing me. Never drove more than 5 miles over speed limit. Can't afford a ticket. Comes with a stack of docs from the original owner. She passed away, son got and stored it in his garage for sentimental value for years. Said he got sad looking at so decided to sell. Tried to upload pictures but getting an error at 94%. OKC OK. I travel a lot so if someone is at or near where I am flying into then I could drive it and just buy a flight home instead of a roundtrip. I have 7k in it. Would rather park it along with my 5 XJSs and see what it is worth in 10yrs than lose money.
Not sure what part of calif. you are in but I will be going to L.A. in next week or two, weather permitting, and could just drive it out.
Nice I was just wondering as other members may also chime in. I'm about 50 miles east of LA so about a two hour drive.....hahhaha
