I have a 80 buick Turbo hood that I purchased 6 years ago for $250.00 and I then restored it for my 78 Regal. I now have cowl indiction hood because I needed more head room.

$100 isn't even in the right zip code let alone the neighborhood. You have
been looking since 2007 thats how rare these are. If you are interested it would be hundreds of dollars but it is ready to install if your color is Corvette Smoked Grey poly.

Take a look at these pictures? The bottom is covered with simulated carbon fiber nauga-hyde with a fiber glass insert built into the hood pocket right where you want your clearance. This is a $700.00 piece,so don't insult me to bad when and if you make me an offer.

Man now you make me feel like I shouldn't bother. Also what size rubber is under the back and what width/ backspace are the wheels

I have a Lincoln versailles rearend in mine so this information may not be what you need. The width to the bearing pockets were with in 1/2 inche to a stock rearend so it may be helpful. Backspace is 4 1/4", 8 inche wide rim and the tires I have on it now are MT 295 -60s 28" tall sidewall with of 12 inches.

This leaves about 1/4" space from sidewall to frame normally, but I have a mini tube which gives me 1" clearance which is quite a bit more breathing room. I used to use a 1/4" space before the mini-tube.

With regards to the hood I built it for the a uiquie appearance when showing the car at car shows. There are a lot of man hours and upholstry shop cost so it may not be what you need and I have no problem with that. What are you expecting to pay someone to fix your old one? Tehn, will it fit right? If you ahve a sprung frame, Hum?

I done know what happened to your old hood but if they sprung the frame in shipping It may never fit right.

One of my best friends owns a body shop and he owes me, so he has been working on straightening it out. I really like how your is open under the cowl. How did you modify the frame? As far as my budget, well I haven't set one as of yet. I mean this started as a budget build and that budget went right out the window 5 years ago. Anyways you can get ahold of me by email too. It has been so long ago, hum, I just remember that the frame just under the bubble is fairly complex and I tried to maintain maximum height and area under the bubble without completely destroying the integrity of the frame. Once I removed the frame center I then welded a 5/16" rod around the rough edges to reconnect the frame and create a finished edge.

I then built a form to match the cut lines in the frame and used heavy boat fiberglass to constuct the pocket cover you see. I had a local upholstry shop do the naugahyde cover. The fiberglas pocket cover is glued to the bottom of the hood bubble itself this added regidity back into the whole hood assembly. No shaky, shaky!

If you do not do something like this it looked hacked up when you open the hood.

I'm sorry I didn't do a photo shoot when I did this it was quite a project to make it look like it does.

    Good Luck

Here are a few more pictures for your enjoyment. The hood has been in storage for two years and I did not wash it for these photos but it will cleanup with a little soap and water.

The only issue is the 3rd picture where my alterator fan rubbed a hole in the liner. I would simply polish up a piece of stainless and glue it in place and make it look like a natural protector plate.

I finally saw your questions from a week back and replied on my thread. The notching gives you about 1.5" for wide tires with 4.5 or 5" backspace wheels. I am limiting myself to a tire sidewall around 12.75 in total width since I do not want any rubbing on the bottom of the inner fender tub. I may have to use the universal metal configuration system (hammer) to make extra clearance and will definitely trim the bottom lip where the inner fender meets the trunk floor, and the outer lip of the fender depending on the tire I'm using. I was thinking of using a 295 65 R15 ET Street radial 30" diameter with 11.9 section and 10.9 tread width. If 30" diameter is too much, then the 295 55 tire. I have 8.5" with 4" backspace. Either should work out.

I had all those issues using 28" Slicks which grow considerably, but I never have run a 30" on the dia. tire due to gear ratio considerations.

The good thing about radial they do not grow like the soft wall slicks but you may find the 30" tire will rub when you sit it on the ground at zero revolutions. You would have very little breathing room at the lower front outer fender well.

Your reconfigeration tool will work on the inner fender but I'm not sure you would want to us it on the outer fender unless you use crinkle paint to cover the damage .

As it stands, I have 12.5" sidewalls and I could put another 1" under there if I needed it with the frame compressed as it is. That is with a Lincoln versialles rearend, not the GM unit.
