2 455+ engine blanks in the shop

    Here are two beautiful chunks of 6061 aluminum.

    These billets should be machined in the next month or so. These will be the basis for the new 455+ cast iron block, and a prototype for the standard aluminum block.
    KBR will be testing the machining program before finalizing a cast iron block run. These blocks will be with and without water jackets.

    What info do you want? 4.5 bore, 4.4 and maybe 4.5 stroke, 3" and 3.25" mains, stock cam ,54mm, 55mm cam. Billet aluminum. Price? TBD. we will know in November. Weight, A lot less than our 300# WC iron block.

    The specifics of the aluminum block. Water jacketed? Max stroke, raised cam, deck height maximum / minimum, 4 bolt splayed, cross? Bore spacing? Etc

    Standard Deck,With or without water, 4.5" max stroke, Standard cam location, ( all 3 cam sizes), No splayed mains, center 3 are 4 bolt, 4.75 bore spacing. This is meant to race and replace stock block using stock oil pan, and parts, hp from 1500 to 2000 max. Our race only billet will have splayed bolts, all 4 bolt mains and cu. in. out of this world!!! Don't ask, but they are already in the works.

    I am doing this for the Buick community who for decades have wanted to compete head to head with the 3 big ones and those who don’t want to spend a fortune for a street or mild strip car. I think we will be able to accommodate all those sometime next year and some by the end of this year. We have a business model to keep prices affordable and parts rapidly available. Hope us all health and strength, we need it!

    Anson I think there is a line, you have to follow the rules of the board.

    Sorry Anson, I couldn't resist.
    But I do think there are a lot of people who could kiss KBR for what's coming for us!
