Last fall I bought a Buick 350 off some guy's garage floor for $200. I had no idea what its story was (still don't). My main reason for buying it was the aluminum intake; anything else usable would be a bonus, I figured.

Now I've gone through it, and figured out what's all there:

    - Block: 1241748 ('70s), bottom end looks stock
    - Heads: 1382546 ('68 or '69?), again, looking stock
    - Cam: Kenne-Bell Mark 1H
    - Valvetrain: hydraulic lifters, hollow adjustable pushrods, stamped steel rockers
    - Intake: TA Stage 1
    - Exhaust: A-body stock manifolds
    - Valve covers: Kenne-Bell aluminum w/ wrinkle black finish :p

All signs look good, compression was excellent, etc - so I'm planning on dropping it into my '83 Regal sometime in the not-so-distant future.

Unfortunately, this motor is missing the distributor and the carb. For the distributor, I'm planning on rounding up a run-of-the-mill HEI. Carb-wise, I'm thinking Quadrajet.

Trouble is, I'm not sure which of the many Qjet variations I should be starting with, given the combo that's in place. If I were hunting the junkyards for a core, what would I need to be looking for?

Contact Mark at Quadrajet Power. He may have a core and would set it up to as close as you will need. Any carb off a different engine will be jetted and tuned for that engine and wouldn't necessarily run well on your engine

Nice find though. If you want to trade those valve covers for a set of custom made welded aluminum one let me know.

Quadrajet would be a great carb for your 350. We have hundreds of Buick cores on hand and can build out what you need.

    Q-Jet all the way:D
That KB cam I believe is one step below the Mark 2-H which was .477/.493 intake/exhaust lift, don't remember the duration tho.
    Should run good!

Not sure how that compares to the factory cams, but it certainly appears to be their mildest offering at the time.

Cam is decent. Should check if it's degreed. You should also determine piston and compression ratio. That can help tell you a lot about the power you may make. If your running the stock 7.5 rear end the s10/astrovan/ camaro rears are essentially the same so a nice 3.42 out of a small jimmy/blazer would help the engine out
