Currently rebuilding 350 for my 72 SunCoupe. Cracked block so I got a replacement one...They are two different timing covers. My original on has oil pump still attached and the water pump area looks pretty bad. It's the one off my original block. Second one is off a 70 350 block. Timing degree scale is plastic on it...Which one to use? Original one also looks like old rope style gasket where as the older one appears to be a pressed in seal. Second one may be a replacement cover. Oil pump off of it says METRIC

You can use either cover but use the filter housing that does not say metric which should use the smaller v6 oil filter.

Thanks Andy. I was worried my original cover was too pitted up to use. But I like the increased timing advancement off the replacement block...I will be running higher timing than stock following Larry's power timing thread. Think I use the other cover and my oil pump/filter housing. Can these covers be blasted if I stay away from sealing surfaces?

the balancer may be marked different on newer cover. I ran ito this issue years ago swaping covers. Timing is off , not sure how much. Check TDC with new cover to be sure.

I don’t see why you can’t blast it staying away from sealing surface and oil pump . Probably lighter media for aluminum.

I can test fit each cover and see what it is before hand.
